Well, although our original idea is now kerplunkt, I'm not as upset as I was on the weekend. I figure, I reclaimed our day for us, so even if we have to change plans once or twice, it's not so bad.

We're going to check out the Floral Hall of Van Dusen Gardens. The big problem, though, is that the woman says we can only check it out between the hours of 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Um. That's nice, lady, I have a JOB TOO, you know. Sheesh. Ah well. We'll figure something out. We may have to wait until next monday though, since I have a release coming out on Friday. I have to take off tomorrow afternoon because of the eye specialist appointment, and I can't guarantee that'll be done early enough that we could go down to the gardens in time to see the hall. I'm supposed to go down to the office on Friday to sign my offer letter, maybe we can fit it in then, or we may wait until Monday.

Oh yeah, and we'd have to take it on the 10th, not the 17th. I don't care so much about that, though. Andrew and I talked about that last night, and although the New Moon was a good symbol, and it was good way to choose the date, it doesn't have so much significance that we need to keep that date.

If the floral hall doesn't work out, though, we're going to stick with the 17th anyway.

Oh yeah, and we went to look at rings on the weekend! That was fun. One of the best ceremony related things we did that whole weekend. We want silver (although titanium looked really good on Andrew, so that's also a possibility), and we want simple, but textured a little.

The funny thing is, my favourite ring for me cost $40! It had a nice width, and wasn't so thick that it looked bad on my finger, but I think, actually, that it might be a bit thin, and might get warped with time. My other favourite ring was a 3 in 1 - 3 bands looped around each other.

The exciting thing is that now we don't need to make any rush decisions. These people have two stores, all their artists are local, and they can do custom work for no extra charge, in a maximum of 3 weeks. So we can wait until spring to order our rings, for sure.

Which also means we can do some more ring shopping before ordering. w00t!

La La La. Boring to all, I'm sure.

Anyway.

Andrew got a call about a job he'd applied to a while ago. This is another warehouse job, unfortunately, but it's at the same place a friend of his works. His friend is quite pleased with the job. It requires some lifting, but it's not timed. And there are other tasks too. The fellow left a message, so Andrew left a message with the fellow, and now we're waiting with bated breath to see what happens.

Unfortunately, he can't call again because that's a job search no-no. So now, the waiting. He's far better at that than I.

I told him this is a good chance to practice what we talked about - showing interest for the job in order to find out more information about it, and then when he gets an offer, if he doesn't feel the job is appropriate (i.e. too much lifting, not a nice company, horrible hours) then he can say no.

Learning to say no is really important.

Anyway. This is me. Bated breath. Better than baited breath, I guess.

I made some vegan apple bran muffins last night.

The first time we made them, they were great. I had accidentally forgotten the soy milk, but they turned out beautifully.

This time I remembered the soy milk, and they would. not. cook.

They were supposed to be done in 20. We baked those suckers for 40 minutes and they were SO wet in the middle. We finally took them out and just left them.

They're ok, but still pudding-y. dude. Next time I'm making them without soy milk.

Oh yeah, and our network is down, so we can't test that release that comes out at the end of the week. Heh. (I'm writing this in notepad until I can get in to lj)

Not boring :) See, there are always alternatives. What about all the places you have yet to discover? What about having your wedding next year so that you can get the place you wanted?

The botanical gardens looks gorgeous though :)

We discussed waiting for an extra year for the perfect place, but neither one of us wants to wait. ;P

The big thing is just that I'm feeling so much better that it feels more like we're in control, you know?

Yeah, they do look gorgeous. They're reasonably priced, too, it's just getting our asses down there. :P

On the titanium ring, I wouldn't bring this up except I know you're very environmentally conscious and I figured you'd rather be aware. Titanium mining and processing is one of the nastiest refining processes around, way worse than gold or silver.

Sorry if this adds to your woes :)

Thank you for the info! I find it difficult to keep up with everything that's bad, if you know what I mean.

No, it doesn't add to the woes. :-) There were some silver rings that looked good on Andrew as well.

The waiting for the call back is absolutely the worst part ...
