sick day

I'm taking a sick day today. I'm not very sick at all, but I think my week will go a lot better if I just take a day today.

Heh. Recuperating from the weekend.

Things are fine - we saw Once upon a Time in Mexico last night, it was grand. GRAND! I love Johnny's character.

We checked out the picnic site on Saturday, had dimsum with a couple people from work (not my favourite joint, I probably wouldn't go back there), and went snow-shoeing with a BIG group from work.

For some reason, the guide set an EXTREMELY fast pace. So fast that it was like speed walking for two hours. But with snowshoes, on hills. Geez. Anyway, it was a great workout, and fun to do something new, even if I didn't get to stop and look at the scenery.

Andrew reminded me again of how wonderful he is, as he met a whole bunch of people from my work without any pain or difficulty, was his normal gregarious easy-going self, and made quick friends with the owner of the company, of all people, along with the two people from work I like talking to most.

My Andrew RAWKS.

Yesterday we went and looked at rings, and the idea we're having right now is a set of 3 rings all looped together for me, with 3 different textures (a hammered, a slightly sparkly, and a matte), and a bigger solid ring that's slightly squared off for him, that's hammered in the center and slightly sparkly on the outside.

That's if I want 3 rings, of course. I'd thought 3 rings was great symbolism, until the fellow told me it had to do with the Holy Trinity. That gave me pause. I mean, sure, I subvert symbols all the time. But... we're going to think about it.

Then he tried to convince us to do gold or white gold instead of silver. But there's no leeway there.

Anyway, we also went to a paper store to get stuff for the invitations, but we had to order the cards we want - recycled ones made in B.C. I paid for them, and when they come in we'll also buy the paper and stuff, and then we can make the invites.

Talked to my mom today, I mentioned that I was waiting to hear from my dad about how much he'll be able to give me for the wedding, and she said if he offers me less than $1000 it's insulting and means he doesn't love me. I told her in no uncertain terms that whatever he can give me, I will take with love, and I won't be insulted! She's pretty easily upset about him at the best of times. At least she's being upset in my name this time, but I'm not going to get upset with her.

And I think we're going to do seating instead of buffet style. I got around the problem of seating people by asking my mom where Andrew and I should sit. So now she's going to "help me with the seating plan". Booyah. Can't get insulted about where you're sitting if you planned where to sit!

Ah, that's it. I'm getting bored about always talking about this damn thing.

heh the Holy Trinity reminds me of something. Richard and I both love crosses, we think they're so gorgeous. We'd both love to have them hanging on display in the house except for how people would interpret that. Maybe we can put them in our bedroom?

Sounds like the wedding planning is getting better, congrats.

Johnny Depp rocks in everything he is in.. I love him in Once Upon A Time in Mexico, too!

hahaha - then people must think I'm a total holy roller b/c I have an entire collection of crosses in my little art display in the house.

Maybe that's why the floor guys were so scared of me! ;)

Yeah for wedding planning coming together for both of you!
