I have had a wonderful weekend.

Went running with Andrew today. 50 minutes of holey-shit-I-can-do-this goodness.

Yesterday - sushi and good times with work friends. Registered at the Bay.

Friday - hung out at a UNIVERSITY PUB with some of Andrew's friends for a girl's birthday. Too funny. University kids. Ohhh funny. Will talk more about that later.

I've had a great weekend so far.

I really want lobster.

HAH! R & I were talking about how we haven't had lobster in years, so we went out for some on Saturday. How odd! And it was Good!

Sushi? hrm??

Well, it's long and involved, and had a couple of facets. Ready?

Ok, facet 1: I've been thinking a lot about the fact that severe deprivation isn't working for me - I work a lot better when I can have treats that are allowed on my diet, like non-sugar chocolate chips, or sushi (neither of which I've been allowing myself this time), and that it's a lot easier for me to stay on the long haul if I do that - I think I was too harsh with my plan for myself 2 weeks ago.

facet 2: We went out with these folks from work, and they decided we should all share everything. So that meant I was stuck eating some sushi rice, there was no way around it. I mean, I ordered soft-shell crab, and only ate some. I ordered sashimi, and got 3 pieces. 1 piece of gyoza, and etc. So I just HAD to eat sushi, to get enough food. :D

I don't feel bad about it - I didn't eat all that much, everything included, and I'd had hardly anything to eat for the rest of the day. I've pretty much decided that my plan will now continue to include sushi, and maybe that no-sugar chocolate, too.

I need to find us a good lobster place here that isn't exorbitantly priced. Andrew and I have never had lobster together. It's not an easy thing here on the west coast (here they're all about crab), although I had a lot of lobster when I was growing up on the east coast.

You don't have to make any excuses to me! I don't think I got fat by eating too much sushi. ;)

Man, if I could afford it, I'd ONLY eat sushi. Sushi every day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wouldn't get tired of it, how could I?

:P

What are some of your favorite sushi items, by the way? I'd love to hear some good suggestions since I'm new to the obsession. ;)

Hmmm.

Well then.

This is tough, because I love it all. I think the only thing I never liked was Uni (sea urchin), which is extremely hard to get fresh. When it's fresh, it's apparently exquisite. But it gets unfresh so quickly, and it unfortunately tastes the way shit smells, when it's not fresh. (A word to the wise. :P)

Everyone seems to like California Roll. Salmon sushi is my favourite, and yellowtail can be delicious as well. Inari is bean curd, it's sweet and oh-so-tasty. I also enjoy those as sashimi. There is something that might be called B.C. Roll, that is a salmon skin roll, that can be very good. Unagi (eel) is incredible - good both in rolls and as sushi.

If you like egg, you can get Tamago sushi - it's a sweet omelet type of thing, just a strip of it on rice. Lots of people like it, although I don't usually order it.

Most people enjoy shrimp and crab - they're both cooked, and I like them but I find them kinda basic for me nowadays. But that doesn't mean they're not good!

Spider Roll is soft shell crab. I really like it, although Andrew doesn't. It depends on whether tentacles freak you out.

Dynamite Roll (also sometimes known as tempura shrimp roll), is tempura shrimp with mayonaise and avocado. Very tasty.

Other than that, most places have they're own house rolls, 3 or 4 or more different rolls that they've created and named. It's fun to just try them...

How's that? :D

I think the dynamite roll sounds wonderful.

I'm actually not a big fan of the California roll and that's what actually has kept me away from sushi all these years.

But awesome descriptions, thank you.

yeah, california roll isn't my favourite either. not to mention it's easy to do it poorly.

I was glad to expand at length - I love sushi, oh yes I do!

If ever we're in the same neck of the woods, we must do sushi together. :D :D :D

Hells yes! Besides, I plan to travel a bit more now that I'm getting out of financial hell. So I may soon be appearing in a city near you. ;)
