It's a good day, today.
I don't quite know why, though. Our morning run was cancelled because it was raining hard, AND was pretty windy. I was tired anyway, so we went back to bed for an hour before I got ready for work.
Tonight I'll do 60 minutes on the ellipse, instead, and finish watching Dirty Dancing. Huzzah for Dirty Dancing!
Last night was my night off. I worked a little extra time at work (I'm banking a couple of hours to I can work just a half day, or even not at all, on Andrew's birthday on the 23rd), and after dinner I edited Andrew's Political Science assignment so he could send it in. After that we were SUPPOSED to make the RSVP cards for our invites, but never quite got around to it. We made chocolate cookies instead (mmmm vegan cookies made with unrefined sugar, I was in HEAVEN) and watched the end of Survivor, instead, and then my best friend called and I talked to him for an hour.
I miss Aaron, I don't get to talk to him enough. They have a new house, and they're dealing with getting the whole thing rewired, and with plumbers, and painting it, and of course he's got soccer and ball-hockey and work, you know, he keeps busy.
So we almost caught up - I mean, we talked for an hour, we'd need about 2 more to really feel caught up, but it was still a good talk.
So after THAT, it occured to me that I really need to go on all those job boards I'm on, and make my resume non-searchable, and that took me until bedtime. I'm not quite finished, but I'll finish that on the weekend.
I think I'll stay here for a little while, anyway. I have my times when I'm dissatisfied because I have little work, and I'm not properly utilized, but when I DO have enough work, I'm happy. The people I work with are nice (for the most part), and we get along. So it's really only the client that sucks, really. Theoretically, if I stick it out through this year, if all goes well I might be moved to another project with another client.
Of course, I say that, but this client shows all the signs of never ending this project, and just churning out release after release after release. Our company has contractors that have been working with these guys for 3 years already.
So if I stick it out, I could be stuck with this client for years. However, after a year or so of working here, if I want to look somewhere else, I think I'll be in a better position to do so.
Oh, speaking of which, the review of my work went really well - I know I was worried, but the head QA person was quite cool, we had an easy rapport, AND she said it was quite thorough and very well done, and the only things anyone had to tell me were either a) new functionality I hadn't known of, or b) superficial changes.
Rock!
We're renting a car for the day, tomorrow. We have several errands to run, Andrew needs to practice driving a bit before his driving test, and plus, it'll be fun! We'll probably dress up and go to a restaurant we haven't been able to go to because of the distance, and maybe explore...
ihlathi asked for more pictures of Vancouver, and I would like to oblige, but in order to do that, we need to TAKE the pictures. Heh.
So tomorrow's going to be fun. Hooray for fun!
