I totally forgot to mention that last night while doing some cardio, we watched Degrassi High (the NEW degrassi, don'tchaknow)

It was this really great episode where these 2 gay high school kids went on a date, and one kid was older than the other, and was being really sweet because he remembered how horrific his first date was, and the younger kid had such hero worship for the older...

It totally reminded me of EVERY fantasy I had about older boys in high school. When the older guy asked the younger out for a date, I squealed. When, at the end of the episode, the older kissed the younger (sweet high school first kiss, you know what I mean?), I squealed.

That younger actor, who reminded me of Cam's boyfriend Nick, actually, really played the whole "oh my god he's asking me out I'm really shy I'm ecstatic I'm trying to play it cool he likes me oh my GOD" first date glory REALLY well. It gave me shivers. So nice!!

I also really liked the lack of flame. They're really careful to avoid stereotypes.

I know, I LOVE Degrassi! I remember clearing my calendar for the first show of the new series, because I was like SNAKE and JOEY and SPIKE are going to be on it, must see, must see!!!!!

You are so lucky to have seen her. Did you go up and talk to her, or did you play it way cooler than I ever would have? Heh.

Funny, actually, I lived in Toronto for years and never saw any of them. The closest to them I got was a friend who used to see the twins all the time when he was on the way to work. Oh, right, and Spike's friend (oh damn, what was her name?) worked at a shop in Kensington.

So is the new Degrassi as good as the old?

Hmmm. Well, I like it, and I think it is AS socially relevant and useful, without being overly dramatic and soap opera-y, as the original. It's hard for me to tell, though, because I'm not nearly near the age where it's useful or relevant to me personally, any more.
