Last night wasn't much special. I worked out to American Idol (so many people were SO GOOD), and was very happy with my lunges.

Because, you see, I HATE lunges. But I did them anyway, and better than last time.

I also worked, trying to get some comp time for next week, for Andrew's birthday. We still don't know exactly what's going on for that, because we're waiting to hear when his family will be in town, and what they want to do, or if they want to spend time with him on his actual birthday.

But we'll figure it out.

I am LISTENING TO MUSIC, how wonderful!!! I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but I brought some cds and my earphones, and I'm listening to music at work. With luck, this is going to improve my work atmosphere tremendously.

Right now, the track is Konception by Plasticman.

Next, a track by God Speed, You Black Emporer! (it's untitled)

Hurrah for music at work!

So last night, I got home early so I could call my grandparents to check on my Granpa after his operation (he's 81, and in poor health because they're not active and they don't eat well - he had an operation to fix 2 hernias. The lower kind. (I really don't know much about hernias)). Anyway, I called to check up on them, and my granpa seems to be doing ok.

I didn't feel like eating anything. It's odd. I've been really trying to listen to my body, since the fast. And it wanted fruit. So I cut and skinned this HUGE papaya we've been letting ripen, and I ate some of that. And then it wanted protein, FAST. So I had rice cakes with peanut butter. And a lot of water.

Why have I been extra thirsty since the fast? I would really like to know.

Anyway, that was dinner.

I felt really restless for the first couple of hours. I couldn't sit down, I couldn't select something to do, it was really odd. So I went and laid down, trying to relax and get into a good headspace. I drifted off for about 20 minutes, but that was just perfect. I work up a lot more settled.

But then I just worked, then worked out, then worked some more until Andrew came home - not exactly a fun evening, but productive!

APPARENTLY, according to Andrew, I was extra cute last night. I wouldn't know, but he says I got the hiccups in my sleep. Heh.

oooh now ifish, by Halou.

I've been re-reading Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. It's a very interesting exposition on how one person's utopia is not another person's utopia. Oh, and all sorts of other things, too. :P

It's been so long since I read it, it's like reading it for the first time. I love it.

I've also (finally, I know, I know), started No Logo. But it'll take me a while to get through it - it's not transit reading. I'm still in the foreward. Bear with me!

SQUEEEEEEEEEE.

Huxley.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE.

So brilliant. "Island" is another great utopian novel by him. Pick it up sometime if you get a chance!

Yes, I really enjoyed Island when I read it!

Geez, I don't think I've read that for about 10 years. I wonder if Andrew has even read it? I'll have to ask him. We need it in our collection, that is for SURE.

It's really interesting to see how Huxley's views changed between Brave New World and Island, particularly about drugs, which are moderately central in both books, but portrayed in exactly opposite ways... Overall, I like Brave New World better, if only because dystopias are more interesting to explore in fiction. Both good books, though.

I'm so glad I'm an alpha...

I'm glad you got it! I was worried it wouldn't get there before you left. Apparently, though, Canada Post is super speedy this month.
