Last night was good. I took the night off working out, and even had a bath, but I still feel like I was very productive.

We went to the library, and got more books.

Olivia had called to tell me she and her man are coming to the whatsit in July (hurray!), so I called her back and we chatted, which was really nice.

Then I finally got ahold of a couple that are our friends from Albuquerque. My one friend just got a 4 book deal with Tor. That is SO COOL. So he's busy, and happy. I caught up with them a bit.

I cut out the pattern for Andrew's coat, so now it doesn't matter if I fucked up, because that part is irrevocable. So here we go, into the fray! Actual sewing commences this weekend. Huzzah!

Music sharing is legal in Canada

As I was on the skytrain this morning, somebody standing near me REEKED of BO. Just disgusting. You know, old sweat smell. Not just "I have a body odour that can be detected" sort of thing, but "I haven't washed properly" - they're different.

And it occurred to me - if you smell that bad NOW, I really hope I don't meet up with you later...

So many of your song ideas are great. I can't wait to check the ones I don't know out. Thanks so much - but give more!

We want about 5 CDs worth of music.

As far as party favours go, we could use some ideas. We ran rampant on silly ideas yesterday - i.e. for the tourist factor, we could give everyone some BC grown pot... or maybe, for the monogramming factor, a blotter of acid that has our names on it...

But really.

We're going to make cookies. I have all these heart cookie cutters, we're going to make a bunch of sugar cookies and decorate them with red and white (probably) icing, and then wrap them up in cellophane and maybe some tulle outside that, and everyone will get some cookies.

But what else? His mother wants us to have a goo-gaw. You know, a thing.

We thought:

  • a picture of us in a cheap frame (cheap but really nice frames are easy to come by here)

  • a cd of the music we'll be playing (thanks, trueseven)

  • little toys (like kinder egg toys, without the kinder eggs)

  • bubbles (thanks, dextra)

Any other ideas? Anything on that list you really like? Really dislike? And no voting for whatever you did at your own whatzit.

I'm getting tired of calling it a wedding for family, and a "ceremony to celebrate our lifetime commitment to each other" otherwise.

You all know I have issues with calling it a wedding.

So it's a whatzit.

Oh that's right, you wouldn't know!

There are definitely going to be vegan sugar cookies. In fact, most of the food at the event will be vegan.

If you remember the woman that Andrew was the ring bearer for, she and her family are coming, and she's incredibly allergic to all legumes, oats, coconut, etc. Plus there are some old people that aren't all that willing to eat some stuff. So, along with the massive amounts of vegan food, some of the food will be vegetarian. All we've asked (his mom is making it all) is that all dairy/eggs be from free range, organic, well treated animals from small farms.

Andrew and I aren't quite vegan yet - we were talking about it today, and we figure about 80% of our meals are vegan. We may never get past that last 20%, but we'll see.

heh.

yeah, cheese can go take a flying leap.

fish, though. I miss it when I don't eat every day. I can't imagine never eating it again. So I eat fish, and we wait...

what about 'commitment ceremony'. short, sweet, to the point.

Yeah, I used that for a while, but then it started feeling kind of stuffy. Whatzit is appropriately silly. ;P

Halcyon and On and On by Orbital doesn't have any lyrics, so it's not really a love song, but listening to it always makes me feel all warm and mushy inside.

I'm looking through my CDs, trying to think of something and coming up empty.

Culture Club is always good. ROCK ON, CULTURE CLUB! We love you!

Maybe Protection by Massive Attack. Suzanne or Jaime by Weezer.
These Arms of Mine from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack (not sure who actually sings that). In the Still of the Night by The Platters.

Oh! This is Love by PJ Harvey (it's very loud but very good).

Such Great Heights by the Postal Service (listen to the lyrics - they're very sweet). There's also an Iron and Wine cover of that song that's slower and brings out the sweetness in it.

China by Tori Amos
Winter by Tori Amos isn't about romantic love, it's about the love between her and her father, but the main chorus makes it sound like romantic love.

The Dakota version of Hey Jupiter by Tori Amos doesn't have lyrics about love, but is really, really pretty, and has that same mushy love feeling.

If you have msn, I have some of these songs on computer and I can send them to you if you want to check them out.

oh wow, thanks for taking all this time!

I do have msn, but I'm never on. I'm not allowed to download things at work (which is where I am now), and at home we just have dialup, so...

But we'll search for those on Kazaa tonight, and maybe leave it on while we sleep, or something...

Well, except the Tori Amos ones, which I have, although I have to check my Massive Attack album to see if that's the one with that song on it.

And I have WAY TOO MUCH CULTURE CLUB. rock on is RIGHT!

It's cool. It's cause I really like music (or ... I really like *my* music), and when someone says, 'what are the best songs for this theme?' I go, yeehaw!
I'm totally keeping my eyes open for more, but I don't really have a love oriented music collection.

Have you checked any of them out?

Ok, halycon and on and on is beautiful, I recognise it from Hackers, it's on our yes list. The Postal Service song is the SWEETEST THING EVER and it's definitely on our yes list.

The massive attack song is not our favourite... the dirty dancing song is ok, although I DID pick up "I've had the time of my life", you know, the one from the end of the movie? and that's going on the yes list.

In the Still of the Night is on the yes list, and we're still looking for the Weezer and the PJ song (all the pj stuff I have is the angry stuff)

more, more!! :P

Excellent :)

I was going to suggest Time of my Life from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, but I was like, naaaaaaaw ....
lol

The Weezer songs probably aren't perfect - if you can't find them, it's not a big los.

But definately try to find the PJ song. It's loud, but the lyrics are *perfect*.
