Ok, you know I'm bored because I'm doing a meme. It's a food meme. Go ahead and skip it - I just like it because I got to write and think about my favourite thing - FOOD. And it helped me pass some time.

What's the last thing you ate? A vegan chocolate chip square

What's your favorite cheese? Goat Chevre (a soft cheese)

What's your favorite fish? Salmon. Salmon Salmon Salmon SALMON.

Salmon.

What's your favorite fruit? Berry fruit. Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries... Mangos and peaches and nectarines are a close second, though.

When, if ever, did you start liking olives? Just recently can I tolerate small amounts of olives in certain dishes. All the people I know LOVE them, though. I just think that's weird. WEIRD.

When, if ever, did you start liking beer? I'm not a huge fan. I like darker beers, if I do have, and preferably mini-brewery. I started on Rickards Red when I was about 17. There's a nice red out of Waterloo, too. But I have to be in the right mood for it. As in, already tipsy.

When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish? In the womb, I swear. My mother comes from a family of fishermen on Prince Edward Island. So I grew up with lots of lobster and shrimp and such. Mmmmmm yummy.

What was the best thing your mum/dad/guardian used to make? I cannot begin to count the ways. My Dad makes a killer goulash, that he now even makes a vegetarian version for me (it usually calls for beef), and a kick ass fettucini alfredo with salmon and snow peas. My mother loved to cook (that's who I got it from), and I loved so much she made... spinach lasagna, that stands out. But she rarely went wrong.

What's the native specialty of your home town? Heh. Donuts. Sadly.

What's your comfort food? Chocolate. Air-popped popcorn with flax oil. Sushi. Fresh bread.

What's your favorite type of chocolate? Vegan Dark Sugar Free Bars, or Grain Sweetened semi-sweet vegan chocolate chips. Unless they're stale (ick).

How do you like your steak? Moo-ing.

How do you like your burger? Lentil.

How do you like your eggs? Hatching. I admit that I absolutely adore Eggs Florentine, though, smothered in hollandaise.... sigh.

How do you like your potatoes? Hmmm. Scalloped, with mustard, is good. But really, I like potatos. Not that I have them often. But when I do, mashed, baked, fried, it's all good. I love making hashbrowns probably most of all. I just... don't.

How do you take your coffee? yuck. I mean, YUCK.

How do you take your tea? mmmm I love homemade chai made with peppermint tea, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger... but I also love looseleaf herbal teas, be they rooibos or flowery or fruity or what. Some green teas, and I love jasmine, too.

What's your favorite mug? My friend Susan made us each mugs when we left Toronto. Mine has an Ani quote on it - "I say when you're born a lion, don't bother to be tame". I think of her every time we drink from those mugs.

What's your biscuit or cookie of choice? Homemade oatmeal chocolate chip with cinnamon. Unless it's Christmas and I'm making my no-bake chocolate coconut cookies. If neither are around, I'll take whatever cookie is, as long as it's home made. Mmmmm cookies.

What's your ideal breakfast? Vegan 'eggs' florentine on sprouted grain toast. (Fits with my morals and my tastes). Unless I'm in a sweet mood - then my family recipe sweet apple oatmeal pancakes with veggie bacon and lots of maple syrup.

What's your ideal sandwich? Toasted sprouted grain bread with tofu cream cheese and lots and lots of tomatos. mmmmmmmmmm

What's your ideal pizza? It's gotta be made by Andrew, and it's gotta have pesto, spinach, balsamic fried mushrooms, sun dried tomatos, and pine nuts. Baby. I'm drooling.

What's your ideal pie? 3.14... what? Sigh. No one appreciates a good math joke any more. Cherry pie. Sweet cherry pie, to be precise.

What's your ideal salad? Spinach with a creamy soy mayo/soy yogurt dressing, with marinated tofu and veggie bacon. Or spinach with strawberries, almonds, and goat chevre... but you know, that goat would have had to come up to me and said "Lisa, PLEASE TAKE MY MILK and make it into cheese, it would help me out SO much, I have too much!!!" Heh. And we all know goats don't talk. Otherwise, I'd enjoy it, but I'd feel way too guilty.

What food do you always like to have in the fridge? Er. Peanut Butter. Carrots. Ginger. Garlic. Soy Milk. Tofu. Braggs. Flax Oil. Maple Syrup. Spinach. More Spinach.

What food do you always like to have in the freezer? Frozen peas, Frozen corn, pasta sauce, something sweet (i.e. 100% juice freezies)

What food do you always like to have in the cupboard? Pasta. Dry Chickpeas. Flour. Oats. Rice. Turbinado Sugar. Olive Oil. Nutritional Yeast.

What spices can you not live without? Pepper. Garlic. Cinnamon.

What sauces can you not live without? Braggs, and I guess Rice Vinegar is a sauce. But if you're counting vinegar, I also want my balsamic, red wine, and apple cider vinegars too.

Where do you buy most of your food? Spud, a local organic delivery service, and Safeway.

How often do you go food shopping? 2 or 3 times a week, really. Plus the local weekly deliver from Spud.

What's the most you've spent on a single food item? um. What an odd question. I dunno. I mean, olive oil is expensive, and we get our maple syrup in the big $18 jugs to save money in the long term... I really don't know.

What's the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own? Uh. I guess the microwave.

What's the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen? Heart cookie cutters in 6 different sizes.

What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without? Knives, blender, cutting board, you know.

How many times a week/month do you cook from raw ingredients? every day.

What's the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients? well, yesterday Andrew made those vegan squares, so that was yesterday. So I guess it was Sunday - I made raw spring rolls. They took fucking FOREVER.

What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry? Duck. Rabbit. Eel (does eel count?)

What's the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor? the last time I ate popcorn - Sunday afternoon.

What's the last time you ate something you'd picked in the wild? I don't know. It's been a while. A blackberry, probably, last year.

Place in order of preference: lime, basil, garlic, mint, ginger, anise That is absolutely impossible. They're all so damn good. Uh. Garlic. Ginger. Basil. Mint. Lime. Anise. But they're so close...

Place in order of preference: food, Internet, sex, movies, fashion Food. Sex. Internet. Movies. Fashion.

Bread and spread: Home-made hummus on sprouted grain bread.

What's your fast food restaurant of choice, and what do you usually order? fast food? uh. I can't remember the last time I had fast food. Seriously. Um. Oh, wait - fries from New York Fries.

What's the next thing you'll eat? A piece of sprouted grain toast, with tofu egg salad on top.
