Last night kinda sucked.
Work went kablooey, ensuring that I couldn't stay late, so I left at 5, and decided to go to Fabricland to pick up those buttons I'd ordered for Andrew's jacket. Not a task I've been looking forward to, since to get there from work requires taking the skytrain to a bus, the bus goes across town, and then a 10 minute walk - and then to get home is a bus across town to another bus, then a 10 minute walk.
As you can imagine - the walk is the best part.
Anyway. To sweeten the deal, I stopped at Thai Away Home and got some pad thai. I love their pad thai, and I ate the WHOLE THING. THE ENTIRE THING. Even though my tummy protested 1/2 way through, and I had tupperware, and could have saved it, I just really wanted to eat it. I felt guilty (in an 'I'm an unhealthy overeater' sort of way)for a while afterwards, but then I moved on. I knew what I was doing, I made the choice, so I just accepted it and went.
Anyway, then I got on the bus. Then I walked to Fabricland.
Where they had LOST MY FUCKING BUTTONS.
Yes, that's right. The buttons that I had ordered and paid for, that they had forgotten to order, that I called about 6 weeks later and they THEN ordered, that they had called me about, informed me they were in, and told me would be under the cash. Yes, those buttons.
Hell.
So I walked BACK to the bus stop, waited a fucking half hour for the bus, took the bus across town, waited 15 minutes for my other bus, and finally, FINALLY got home.
*SIGH*
I got home at 8:40, and my smoke alarm had decided to beep intermittently. I don't know how long it had been doing it, but the cats were very upset. I called the landlord, and she said she'd have to get the fire marshal people over to replace it (it's an electrical one, so I couldn't just put in a new battery as I'd hoped). At least she sent her husband over to disconnect it until the fire marshal comes.
Gee. I guess I'd better not have a fire until then.
Anyway, they're SUPPOSED to come today. If they do, they'd better be careful about the Bear-cat. I really don't want him to get out, and then be out all day without me home, and with all those kids around to either scare him and frighten him into hurting himself, or enrage him and get themselves hurt. Never mind the big street right over --> there.
We were told yesterday that we aren't working enough hours at work. That coupled with the fact that very little is working on my fucking section of the product, has me pretty irritated. It's not like I've been twiddling my fucking thumbs, people.
The good things about yesterday:
I am, of course, supposed to work late tonight. I'm finding it very difficult to get enough exercise in right now - I know that happens during crunch times, but I would like to not lose ALL my muscle tone.
Le Sigh.

The good things about yesterday:
- pad thai
- they said when they find the buttons, they'll mail them to me
- I finally got the backup of the computer done
- I defragged the computer, too!
- Jasmine is off Idol
- It's OVER

Date: 2004-05-20 11:52 am (UTC)July 17th (saturday) we're having a party at our apartment in Burnaby at 7pm. It's for friends, and friends of friends, no family except my brother. There will be a tiny ceremony there, new moon based.
July 18th (sunday) the ceremony is at stanley park, ceperley picnic spot, starting at 1:30. The reception is immediately afterwards, at the same place - lots of vegan food, some vegetarian food because there are old people and someone extremely allergic to legumes coming.
Much big love to you too. I'm so excited to think you'll be here!!

Date: 2004-05-20 04:51 pm (UTC)ooh, you could both ask Justyna where she's staying, too. It's just that things are going to be crazy here on the weekend, and I sorta told 3 different people they could stay...

Argh! It's things like that what test a person's patience and whether or not they are truly civilized. Sounds like you passed the test! ;-)
