good times...
Jun. 23rd, 2004 10:02 amIt's a time of good things...
So I was wrong, my granma is just resting at home this week, and may possibly start her radiation next week. I guess they're going to see the doctor later this week. But I spoke to my mother briefly last night, and she said granma's doing really good, which is just great.
We met with the screen guy last night. He's going to do screens for our front two windows, for $35 each after taxes. That is SO GOOD. He said he'll call when they're ready, and that'll be by the weekend at the latest. Mucho sweet. That way we'll actually be able to open the front windows, and maybe get a bit of a BREEZE in the apartment.
Our plan was to just get the two front screens, because we need those for health, and then get the three back screens later when we have the money for them. After all, we thought, it's not a big deal because the cats are smart, they sit at the open windows in the back, but the drop is so huge they don't try to jump or anything. They only run out the front windows.
BUT two things happened yesterday to change our plans, so now when the screen guy comes back we'll get him to measure for the back three as well.
1) Bear, for some reason, decided to try to climb out the window in the workout room yesterday - not once, but TWICE while we were in the room with him. There's a teeny tiny lip there, and he was trying to get to something. He could have easily slipped.
2) We got our first whatzit present - a cheque from his grandparents. And let me just say - when I saw it, I said "OH MY GOD" and dropped it. It's probably not all that much to people with more money, but holy COW is it a big deal to us. (In fact, I know it isn't, because I told my best friend, and he was unimpressed.)
So we'll have fancy new screens for the whatzit. Huzzah!
With the money from his Grandparents, we've decided to buy a vacuum (and take it off our registry, so we don't get more than one vacuum - but we need one before the whatzit, so we can't wait!), buy the screens, take a tiny bit for ourselves, and then put a bunch onto one of the credit cards.
Wow.
zaftigvegan called me last night, and we're getting together on Friday evening!! w0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000h0000000000000000000000000000000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're going to the park, and we're going to have a potluck dinner.
I'm going to bring kidney bean tacos (I'm drooling already), and the lemon/orange-ade I made last night. Maybe cookies if I have the time to make some tonight...
yum yum yummy! Friends and food and outside. I'm so looking forward to it.
I sent my mom some flowers yesterday, to let her know that I noticed just how wonderful she's been to my Granma, even if nobody else thinks to mention it to her. She called me, REALLY happy. That made my day.
