brightbluegirlSo I'm sitting here at work, eating baklava and snickerdoodles, and I couldn't be happier.
And it's not that work is any different, or I'm any less tired (we slept for almost 11 hours last night, and I'm still pretty tired)...
It's because I had SO MUCH FUN last night picnicing withzaftigvegan and her awesome family!
We have VANCOUVER FRIENDS NOW!!!
OH MY GODS.
Oh joy, oh bliss. Andrew and I were so EXCITED the whole way home. We all get along so well!! I feel like we had an instant connection. Other than the fact that we don't have kids yet, I think we have SO MANY similiarities, between myself and Kreeli, and between Andrew and Leon. It's amazing.
*sigh*
It's amazing how one new friend can make me feel less lonely. Just like that! Even knowing how busy we're each going to be with our own lives, and knowing we won't be able to hang out tons the way younger folk do... I still feel good.
PLUS we're going to hang out next weekend! Kreeli and I are going strawberry picking with the kids, and when the boys are done work we're all going to meet up at their place for strawberry daquiries. OOH BABY.
Ok, Ok, enough of that. I'm going to embarrass myself. Heh.
Yesterday, for the hell of it, Andrew looked at available unoccupied land. We've been talking recently about building our first house instead of buying something, and that way we can build something environmentally sound, i.e. a round house partially underground, with solar panels and such.
Anyway, he said prices range, of course, but two things really stood out for me - some land was as low as $25 000, and you could BUY YOUR OWN ISLAND for only $50 000!!!
ok, that is just too cool. We just talked about it briefly yesterday, but I think we have a new goal to work towards. I don't think we're going to go the island route, but what we're thinking of is something like...
pay off debt
save money for the land
buy the land
save money for house
build house on land
live in our dream home for ever and ever
Heh.

Date: 2004-06-26 11:13 am (UTC)We spent a fair bit of our trip land hunting as well, not specific plots available now but different islands and places we might want to keep an eye on for anything outstanding that comes available.
We spent three nights in an ocean front cabin on Cortes and fell in love with it. If you're interested in the islands and the laid back quasi-hippie lifestyle that goes with it you're in the right place! (I'll have pictures and details soon)
Everybody is so freaking nice.
