We have a new vacuum! A brand-spanking new Hoover Fold Away 12 amp bagless vacuum.

duuuuuuude.

I'm so excited. I can't wait to use it tomorrow. And YES, as I said to a friend of mine in an email today, I AM a dork... but at least I'll be a dork with clean carpets.

Last night was nice... Andrew met me at work, and we went to Commercial Drive. We got some groceries (Nayonaise, spices, that sort of thing), and looked in vain for fresh fennel and mint, and then had a very pleasant dinner at Wazubees.*

Near the end of our visit there, these two people sat down and this woman was SO angry at the guy. I don't really know what was going on, Andrew could tell you better. I know I heard her say "so you choose them, have sex with them, and then they become your little pods?" and apparently she told him he was a misogynist, and then had to explain the term to him... and something about not buying his affection and such.

It was tremendously interesting, and I was in a mood to be entertained... but I was a good girl and we left the restaurant and didn't stay to listen to them.

*I am a horrible vegan. *sniffle*

But the salmon burger was SO GOOD.

Sometimes I think I'll never be able to go full-time full-fledged vegan. (sigh)

I've been vegetarian for about 10 years, but moving to the West Coast has made me absolutely RAVENOUS for fresh fish. I actually can't get enough of it now. *shame*

My family turned pesce-vegetarian when I was 12. In the past 5 or so years, I flirted with meat eating... not exactly cooking it at home, but eating it out... but then I realized that I really do prefer being a pesce-vegetarian.

So then I did some soul-searching and realized that morally and health-wise, I value veganism highly. I respect the vegans I know for their choices, and I always want to be what I respect, you know?? But giving up fish, salmon, lobster, shrimp... for the rest of my life... sigh.

I have not figured out how to merge my morals and my desires, when it comes to fish. Other things, not so much of a problem. But seafood...

I haven't touched meat in the past 10 years, and doubt I ever will....but I've always drank some (organic) milk and eaten (free-range) eggs, so I'm not exactly super-vegetarian or anything by vegan standards. But damn, eating seafood has done wonders for my energy level, so I figure I can take one moral strike...and just try to minimize any sort of animal suffering, you know?

Plus, I love my vacuum.

Yeah, that's a good point. Just minimize. That's why I try to choose wild seafood instead of farmed. It may be rationalization, but it's MY rationalization, dammit!

Heh.

Hmm. Having sex with the produce? At least you're not THAT kind of Vegan. Hahahaha.

Don't feel too bad. Salmon is soooo good for you and there are a lot of fish in the sea - well, salmon anyway. ;)
