PUPPY!

Oh dear... we just had a power outage at work, and I lost the entry I was working on!

Ah well.

Let's see if I can recap:

Spiderman ROCKED MY WORLD. Sam Raimi is a god. A GOD. I mean, Bruce Campbell had a cameo, there was a CHAINSAW SCENE (oh my GOD there was a CHAINSAW SCENE), and, well, you know, the movie itself didn't suck.

I'm still not a fan of Kirsten Dunst, but I could stomach her on a screen a lot better during this movie than during Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which she was good in that one scene on the street at the end of the movie). Anyway.

The movie experience was kinda bad though, because, other than the girl and her cellphone, this woman brought her 5 year old child (to the 9:30pm show), and of course the child sat next to me...

And.

-Commanded me not to laugh because I laughed like her grandma.
-shouted at the screen a lot
-had smelly feet
-had such issues with touch that EVERY TIME people touched (not just kissed), she yelled EW EW EW EW

Anyway, I was quite irritated. With the mother. Mostly just because she took her 5 year old to a movie that STARTS at bedtime!

We went over to [Bad username or unknown identity: zaftigvegan's] place, and had SO MUCH FUN.

I love new friends!

I love new friends that are good in that comfortable hanging out and telling stories and connecting on so many levels and being serious and being silly and ALL THE LEVELS right away!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*ahem*

Anyway, we had a blast. I was so tired when we left, and I would have stayed all night if I could have, but you know, overstaying your welcome and being responsible and all that.

We went in the pool with the kids, we drank pina coladas (and I wished I'd bought 2 bottles of likker and 2 pineapples), and ate yummy yummy pasta and garlic bread, and it was so much fun... we sat in the living room and traded "this one time, when I was on acid" stories, and you know...

Life is good.

And they have the cutest kids EVER. EVER EVER EVER EVER.

I mean, their son Liam was playing this "I'm a superhero who can beat up your superhero" what if game with Andrew, and at one point he said "I'm buddha-man, so I'm part of everything, and I'm bomb-man, so I can blow up everything, so I'm part of you so I can blow you up!"

BUDDHA-MAN??? Yes dear, you're delightful.

So I pointed out that Buddha wouldn't WANT to blow Andrew up, and Liam went... hmmmmm.

And they're going to come to lunch at the vietnamese restaurant after the legal ceremony on the 17th, and Kreeli will come to the party ceremony that night, at least for a while (and hopefully for longer), and she's going to see if her friend, who is coming in that night, will want to come to the party, and that is just TOO awesome.

And we're going to find a way to go camping together in August. Oh le sigh of contentment. Le sigh, I say!

I like where they live, too. These pretty big townhouse-y type things, with a fenced in front garden, and a back porch/patio thing, and this huge green area for the kids to play in, and you can have DOGS and it's quiet (traffic wise - kids playing is a joyous sound, as far as I'm concerned), and there's a pool, and they're RIGHT BY THE SKYTRAIN and and and and...

They own, but apparently a certain amount of the places have to be rentable all the time.

Can you see where I'm going with this?

We'd said we wouldn't move for 5 years, that's what we said... but we didn't realize it was so LOUD in our bedroom. I mean, I cry sometimes because the traffic is so loud and doesn't stop. It's not like people are out talking in the parking lot, you know, and that ends sometime and then there's quiet... it's CONSTANT TRAFFIC SOUND. And even with earplugs, I can hear it and I weep.

And we can't have a dog.

And there's no garden space to call my own, or even patio space I can put a couple of tomatos on.

And the damn bathroom fixtures are different colours.

And then we could hang out with Kreeli and her family WHENEVER WE WANTED TO, with very little planning necessary! ("hey, wanna come over for dinner?" "Sure!" "Hey, wanna chat while I do this thing?" "Sure!!!")

IT WOULD BE AMAZING.

So we're going to check it out... we need to call and see if there ARE any places available for rent, how much they cost, we'd have to see one... we need to find out how long it would take me to get to work, and how long it would take him, too.

The earliest we'd move would be October 1. We need a month of NO BIG LIFE CHANGES OR PLANS, and that might as well be the delicious month of August. Then, in September, we can find out if anything is for rent there. If it is, we'll see what we need to do to get it for October 1. If there isn't, we'll wait until something is, and move then.

We could feasibly be getting a puppy for Christmas...

I'm so glad you have a new friend.. it really makes you happy :D UGH to kids in the late show.

OMG.. a puppy. And a garden. They will make your life complete. What sort of puppy? I know I'm jumping the gun but... but.. PUPPY!

I know!!!

I'm trying not to jump the gun either. Because if it's not perfect, we won't move to it. But it sure looked super nice to ME.

As far as a puppy goes... well, we just want a BIG puppy. No lap dogs for us (Jas and Ollie are medium dogs, as far as I can tell), and we'd probably just go to the humane society and get one there - so most likely a mutt. :P

puppy puppy puppy puppy!!!

I always thought I wanted a big puppy, too.. But when I got a brand new house, i didn't want to deal with the wrath of a teething BIG puppy ;) So, i got me some medium babies and they are SO perfect. Big enogh to really play with, run with, etc.. but small enough to not do any real damage :)

Well, that's definitely a good point! I think we're willing to have a medium dog, and it just depends on what's there when we go to look, probably. The only thing I'm sure of is no teeny weeny lap dogs with the shrill barks that are smaller than my cats. If Bear can eat it for lunch, I'm not interested. :D
