Originally we'd written 10, but we cut them down to 6. I'm very happy with these vows that we chose.

1. I will always love, honour, and respect you
2. I will be there for you through the good times and the bad times
3. I will never hurt or neglect you
4. I will encourage and support you
5. I will be honest and open with you
6. I will continue my personal growth

Very cool that you decided to write your own vows, and they look like good ones.... my only question is how the 6th one is a vow between the two of you? It looks more like a promise to yourself (?) I dunno, neato vows regardless, and good food for thought when Richard and I start talking about these sorts of things...

We want to continue to improve ourselves so that we would be better partners to each other. That way we will be both happier and more comfortable with ourselves (making us easier to be with) and we will be able to support each other during that growth.

I'm having trouble putting words together for this. I'm probably still asleep. I think you should try to clarify my innane mumblings Lisa.

Yes, absolutely. It's important to continue your personal growth in a relationship, because a stagnant partner is not a partner at all.

For example, by pledging to continue my personal growth, I pledge to work on increasing my patience level. If Andrew had to deal with me always being impatient, that would not lead to a happy relationship 20 years down the road.
