the worst is over?
Sep. 9th, 2004 10:08 amI think I'm going to have to decrease the weight on my lat pulldown. I don't have good form any more, I'm just pulling, and not moving my shoulder blades...
Ah well.
Other than that, I've been staying on track with my workouts, and even though I gibbered incoherently and stared longingly at the bed when I woke up, I DID do my workout, even so.
It helps that we're watching Fifth Element this week.
I need more action-y type movies, we're running out.... hmmmm.
Anyway, angst is worn out. All gone!
Andrew's going to keep working on the carpentry thing, he's waiting to hear back from his folks for the number of the guy in Kelowna that he used to work with, and we'll see where that goes.
I got to talk to
phreeduhm last night. Much happy. :)
I also got to talk to a half drunk
thetamermaid, who was very cute, and Suzanne, and
kirithebrave
But now I don't want to be on the phone for WEEKS. WEEKS, do you hear me??? Heh.
And *I* am going to school!
It's just a course at BCIT, and it's a Quality Assurance Course, 3 hours every monday night, starting this monday and going until Dec 6th. My company is paying for it, which is nice. But I can't help but be excited about it. It's an accredited course, so I'll be able to put it on my resume. And it'll be nice to do something different with my days.
It being a short week, I really shouldn't be looking so much towards Friday, should I?

Date: 2004-09-09 11:15 am (UTC)I love learning, and it's been years since my last course. I always thought that if I went back, it wouldn't be until I was ready to do my therapy diploma... but this is nice too.

Date: 2004-09-09 11:03 am (UTC)Do you have a lat pulldown bar? What kind of weight machine do you have? We've been doing flys or pullups, but I can't pull up, so I just hang for like 30 seconds. It sucks, I'd rather have a pulldown bar.

Date: 2004-09-09 11:13 am (UTC)I think we've got it figured out, now I just have to wait and see.
We have this awesome weight bench we got from walmart when we were living in Albuquerque (I know, walmart!, not even target!), for $80. It's got the bench, a lat pulldown thing, a leg extension/curl thing, a bicep thing (but I don't use that), and a thing for flyes. I really like it, it also folds in half. We have free weights, and we have to put them on the dumbbells and the things ourselves, but that's ok.
I'll take a picture of it tonight!

Date: 2004-09-09 11:26 am (UTC)Just for the record, I'm not against walmart at all. Well I hate it becuase it's dirty and infested with trashy people.. but hell, I go there at least once a week. Richard got a perfectly good hybrid bike for $50 from there, why not?
Damn I wish I had a big workout room. A big one, with gym floors and a big screen tv so I could do aerobics if I wanted, and have an elliptical, bike, treadmill & weight machines. Ahh.. it'll never happen.
I wonder what the lottery is up to this week.....

Date: 2004-09-09 11:42 am (UTC)Sometime, I'll take you to a Canadian walmart. It's like Target. Certainly, the people who go there are just your average run-of-the-mill canadians... nary a stained wifebeater to be found!
Andrew and I used to go to Walmart at least once a week when we were in Albq as well. A lot of people watching, and cheap stuff, it worked out...

Date: 2004-09-09 01:42 pm (UTC)Most gyms have a machine which will assist you with this movement. The more weight you put on it, the more weight is pulling you up and the easier it is.
To replicate the above at home, have someone assist you. While hanging from the bars, bend your legs behind you at the knees. Have someone support your feet with their hands and gently assist you while you pull up. Experiment with the level of assistance until you're happy with your level of exertion. Naturally, your partner should provide less assistance as you gain strength.
