doodle-ee-doo
Feb. 21st, 2005 09:07 pmooooh my head hurts today. Ugh. Probably because we stayed up late both nights of the weekend, and then I attempted to get up on time for work today. Heh. Bad Lisa, bad! Unfortunately, I went home 'early' today (after only 8 hours), thinking to have a nap then work some from home, but once I got here I realized I don't have the right stuff to do any work. Ugh.
I had a good weekend, though. Andrew and I watched the movie "Tokyo Pop" while the dye set in my hair on Friday. It's quite the 80s rock movie. I love the scenes of Japanese culture, that is definitely the best part - because dude, the acting isn't it, and the songs aren't it. But we all know that 80s movies
rock my world.
Anyway, on Saturday I worked all day, and then we went to a birthday get together for a girl that Andrew went to high school with - at the pub conveniently directly across the street from where I work.
I gotta tell you - we only had to spend a couple of hours there, and it was draining as hell. What DOES one talk about with a table full of people one has nothing in common with? Ah yes, and what are YOU going to school for? Fascinating. Ah yes, and what does your boyfriend look like? Fascinating.
Ok, so it wasn't THAT bad. But only because Andrew amused himself by stealing people's cell phones all night, and waiting to see when/if they'd notice.
The pub itself pretty much sucked. They kicked us out after 2 hours, even though we'd just barely finished eating, because they'd booked another group after us. The prices were severely inflated, and the food mediocre. We went because the birthday girl is a really sweet person, but we'll never go there
again, THAT is for sure. At least there was a vegan option on the menu.
Partially, I was amused by one girl who was apparently getting over strep throat. She said when she had strep, she didn't eat much, so then when she was feeling better she "seriously ate 4 big macs a day for 2 days". (ewewewewew), and who ordered this humongoid steak, which came with some potato patty thing, and she complained and complained and complained about it "this is so wierd, it's so odd, it's the strangest thing I've ever put in my mouth, oh man" as she ate it.
I feel sorry for her, really.
Anyway, I was kind of happy we had to leave, because then we got to go home.
Hooray!
On Sunday afternoon I hung out with
zaftigvegan, which was fun. We wandered around a lovely park (it was a gorgeous day, so half the city was there... but it was super fun because it was gorgeous and my walkmate is lovely inside and out.), sat and ate scones, and I drank herbal tea while she had some coffee, and just chatted. It was most excellent.
One woman had brought her cat on a leash! They were by the little lake there, and the cat was VERY interested in the ducks. Didn't pounce or anything, but DID stare at them a lot. It was a really friendly cat, too. I'd love to be able to take Bear and/or Penelope out, but she's so afraid she hides under the nearest car, and Bear can get out of any cat-harness in about a half second flat. Although, he puts up with a collar, so maybe a more traditional leash would work for him. Hmmmmmm.
AND we found an excellent new vegan grocery place! We wandered through a mall and there it was. Tada! Including fake salmon and fake chicken, and fake buffalo wings and everything. Too much fun.
Anyway, I got home around 5:30, and was going to make crepes for dinner, with asparagus and lentils and things, but I was exhausted. So instead, Andrew made up a little bed for me on the couch, and I dozed while he made a quinoa/chickpea/vegetable salad for lunches, and potstickers and edamame for dinner.
What a man I have. :D :D :D
My brother was going to take us to see Constantine, but we were all too tired to go, so instead we went to Rogers and rented a few movies.
As a result, we watched "Chronicles of Riddick" last night. I liked it! Well, with the caveat that we got to make fun of some of the REALLY BAD LINES IN IT. Of course, that's part of the fun. At any rate, it was a fun time. No, I'm not officially recommending it - I mean, I liked it, and if you like cheesy action/sci-fi, well then, rent it. But if you don't like it, don't blame me! :P
