I redyed my hair today. The other colours were nice, but they faded quickly. Not what I'm used to. Anyway, today I took some of my favourites and mixed them with the lighter colours, and I've created a nice blue, with some magenta highlights. Puuuuuurrrrrfect.
I also had an argument with my brother today. Or, to be more precise, I informed him that calling directory assistance costs $1.25/call, and that there is an online service that we prefer to use, and he yelled at me at length.
Ah, the love.
Otherwise, I've had a good day. Andrew and I made bread (he did all the work, I just kneaded the dought and pointed out when the it was finished rising), and went for a run, and I did our taxes (we're actually getting money back, W00t!!!), and Netfiled them, and did the weekly menu and grocery list. A good day. And not yet over...
So, for a brief moment, I thought that I might not be taking my sabbatical as planned.
Last week my boss approached me and said that there was a project coming down the pipeline that was perfect for me - a one person 2 month project that required an independent worker with a mathematical/statistics background.
The only problem? It needed to start in March, and my current project doesn't end until the end of March. As a result, I'd have to work double-time in March. Probably, he said, the best they'd be able to do would be 4 days a week at the current project, 3 days at the new - the days to be split up as I see fit, i.e. 11 hours daily for 5 days, or 8 hours daily for 7, or some combination - whatever I wanted to do. Then, once my current project ended, I'd work full time at the new one.
So I hummed and hawed about it, and talked to Andrew, and the pros outweighed the cons. In short, I'd be able to bank a LOT of hours, which would make my 2 months off that much more comfortable, I'd get to work on a project relating to something I took in school, I'd look good to my employers, and I'd still get to take 2 months off during spring/summer.
So I went in to work the next day and said yes... to find out that the new client is not good with 3 days/week after all, so it doesn't matter. My boss told me to assume I'm taking my sabbatical as of April 1 after all.
PHEW!
The feeling of relief when I heard that was incredible. I mean, sure, I would have done it, but I REALLY want this time off!

Date: 2005-02-28 02:38 pm (UTC)What do you wanna do for this time off from work. Did I miss something?
I also make menues for the week, but Jörg often does not know when he will be able to leave work and so I can not rely on my menu...
Sometimes he is home at 05:00 pm, sometimes at 11:00 pm.... crazy!

Date: 2005-03-01 05:29 am (UTC)Last year was pretty tough for me, so I want to relax and focus on my physical health - lots of working out and eating right, lots of massages and rest. I'm also going to use the time to do some sewing and personal projects, but mainly, I want to get healthy so I will continue to be productive and happy!

Date: 2005-03-01 06:43 am (UTC)It sounds a little like me. I have also started this "healthy regimen" combined with the Self Challenge for motivation. But it's more my mental health which I will cure with it... and I know that exercise helps A LOT!
Sewing is great. My mom does it and my aunt worked for Pfaff Sewing Machines. I can not do it but I wanna learn it.
A thing that also relaxes is knitting. I did this a lot as a teenager til my midtwenties...
