I have been wracking my brain to think of ideas for you for your husband! But I think I don't know you guys well enough to give any good suggestions. :(

I would love to hear your favourite things to do in Seattle, that would be awesome! (thanks)

Do you like camping/hiking? We camped and hiked all over the place in Seattle. We would do day trips as well as backpack camping/hiking trips. Some of the hikes are pretty tough though. Or do you prefer to just drive up and enjoy the vista?

Where do you want to stay? The last time we were there we stayed at a real cheap hotel downtown, can't remember the name, but it had shared showers and was minimally decorated. There is also a hostel downtown though I might not recommend it unless you up for a place like that.

Eats.... If you have money to splurge check out Tom Douglas' restaurants (www.tomdouglas.com)my favorite is the Dahlia Lounge. Got to go down to Ivar's for their clam chowder, just the walk up area by the ferry is fine.

Seattle Art Museum (www.seattleartmuseum.org) is awesome. So is the Benaroya Hall (www.seattlesymphony.org/benaroya/) where the symphony plays, even if you just go for a tour.

Check out the Underground City Tour (www.undergroundtour.com) it is a hoot!

Well, tell me what you guys like to do on trips. There really is a lot and I will write more as I think. If you want to do this via email just let me know. I absolutely love and miss Seattle!! When are you going?

We LOVE camping and hiking. We're only going for a weekend, though, and I booked a room at The Moore hotel downtown (it sounds like the one you stayed at - you have to request private bathrooms). So although we love camping/hiking, I have a feeling that's not what this trip will be.

We're going down with a friend, in her van, but we'll probably park the van somewhere and ignore it, and use transit/walk as much as possible (I love walking around).

I noticed the underground tour, that sounds fun, and the art museum, and the sci-fi museum. I thought maybe the music museum, but that's really expensive - so only if Andrew really wants to do it.

We like to do kooky things... not shopping so much, but stuff where we can people watch, or really get the feeling for a city. This is when we go to cities, of course, since we're usually camping. Um - I don't like a lot of really defined things (like tours) but prefer a laid back visit.

Does that help at all?

I really appreciate this!

Hey, that is where we stayed!!! The hostel is right down the street from there. The needle exchange for druggies is right next to the hostel, so you can imagine the crowd right outside of the hostel. :-) (This was back 3.5 years ago though)

Oh, well you are right down the street from the Pike Place Market which you must at least walk through and is great for People Watching.

Unless you guys are really into music and the history I would save the music museum for another time. I went and am not a huge music person (though I had a music scholarship) and I don't list it as one of my favorite things.

I haven't been to the Sci-Fi museum but that sounds fun!

There is Ballard Locks which I thought was cool but not what you are looking for, and out of the way! Lake Washington is awesome to bike around if you want to spend half a day that way (rent bikes at the University and bike around to the Redhook Brewery right off the trail, we did this twice. Sore asses.) I don't recommend taking a road trip to the mountains since you want to optimize your time.

Definitely eat Thai or Chinese or sushi while you are there! Oh and if you go to Dahlia get the crabcakes and the coconut pie (i never used to eat coconut pie).

You could go on the ferry if you want but I did it every day I was there so I think it can be kind of boring. But if you want to see commuters it is a great way to see them.

Well, I need to go pump and get to the gym. I will think some more on this and send you more ideas.

Looks like you had a blast! I don't even remember the last time I went bowling. It was definitely sometime before I was 13. I think I'll have to add it to my list of things to do.
