blooming squares

I promised venusrising pictures of my african violet... currently there are only 2 blooms, but there are lots and lots of buds. I just couldn't wait any more to show.

The pictures I took are horrible, though, so I'll probably take more pictures later. Heh.





This one isn't a great picture, but I wanted to show the pretty pillow in the background...




AND LOOK! This is what I did today - my first quilting square! Well, I cut it out before. I just sewed it today. I know it's nowhere near perfect, and it's a really simple square... but golly gosh gee wiz I am FIENDISHLY PROUD OF IT.




The colours look really washed out in this... the pink should be brighter and deeper, and that washed out green should be a bright turquoise. But you get the drift...

I think it's just a different kind of african violet, some of them have longer stems.

I didn't do anything special to it... heck, I consider myself lucky it's blooming! I was actually worried I'd somehow messed it up to get such long stems.
