I still owe an island update, and there WILL be one, I promise.
Yesterday Andrew and I dusted off the bikes and went on a little biking expedition for the first time this year. I was a little wobbly to begin with, but that passed quickly. Anyway, it wasn't a big fancy trip or anything - we just biked to the organic food store and back - about 25 min each way.
The way back, of course, our bags were full of fruit and vegetables.
It reminded me of our weekly trips to the organic co-op when we were living in Albuquerque. Fond rememberances. I hope we go more often!
I saw some patio tomatoes there, and I think I'm going to bike up there tomorrow to get one. I do have my lovely bike basket, after all. :D
And then last night I had a dream that I was jogging, so this morning I went for a jog. (After talking with my brother and all that)
Andrew and I started our cleanse today, which is going on for 15 days. Afterwards, we're considering going raw for a few more weeks, to make sure we're well and truly cleaned out. This is the best time to do it, while I'm at home.
Anyway, with this cleanse, the only foods we're eating are:
certain grains, such as quinoa, kamut, spelt, etc (including pasta made from this)
brown and wild rice
fruit and vegetables
beans (The cleanse suggests meat, but they are obviously meat centric.)
soy milk (the just beans and water type - no processing or etc)
nuts and seeds
flax oil
a small amount of olive oil
lots of water
Unfortunately, I see a lot of smoothies, pasta, salad, and stir fry in our future. *sigh* but it's only for 2 weeks! One good thing is this means I can make lemon pudding, which is just lemons, avocado, and dates, and which is really really tasty cold.
I think that Andrew and I eat relatively well usually, but it'll be good to get all that processed and refined crap out of our systems.
