Because Andrew isn't working right now, we've had all sorts of thoughts. Thoughts like:

  1. How long should we stay here? (It isn't really feasible for us to stay here as long as originally planned, if I'm the only one working. If we stay until this August, we have to do that brutal move AGAIN, so soon. If we stay until NEXT August, at least we don't have to move so soon. But money may be an issue - we still don't know)

  2. Where should we move, when we move back?

  3. What does Andrew want to do at school, and where?

  4. Once we move back, should Andrew go to school right away, or work for a year?

This is all very up in the air.

I told my manager I'll be asking for a raise, once reviews come around (next week). He told me that he's already talked to the bosses about that, and there's a good chance. I'll find out when I find out. So that will help, a little.

Andrew wants to do Political Science. We're looking at Vancouver (U BC), Waterloo (U Waterloo), and Montreal (McGill U). We want to try correlating me getting another job with him getting into school, though. So I'd have to try getting a job in all 3 places. At this point we're talking about me applying to jobs in those 3 areas, and we'll see who gets what acceptances where.

Luckily, his parents have savings for him for university, to the tune of approximately $10 000, which will pay for his schooling for at least 2 years.

Montreal has positives:
1) rent is very cheap - a LARGE two bedroom apartment is $500 or so.
2) after being a resident in Montreal for a year, tuition gets cut in half.
3) Olivia

Montreal has a negative:
1) the fricken snow and cold.
2) it's a big city
3) Alex goes there sometimes

Waterloo has positives:
1) rent is slightly more expensive, but other living expenses are cheaper.
2) it doesn't get as cold, although it does get a lot of snow.
3) Aaron
4) Toronto (a big city) is near by so we can go there at will, but we don't have to live in a big city.
5) the local grocery stores all carry organic produce

I don't know what the Waterloo negatives are. No mountains, I guess, as far as Andrew sees it.

Vancouver positives:
1) near the ocean
2) much more mild winters
3) BC is beautiful, and mountains mountains mountains
4) West Coast suuuuuushi. And other fish.
5) lots of organic produce

Vancouver negatives:
1) far away from my friends and family
2) close to his family
3) living expenses are pretty high

But really, all is moot. At this point, we're waiting to see if Andrew will be able to work again. We're waiting to see about my raise.

If he can work, then we'll stay here for another year. If he can't, we'll scramble to find a place to live and work, and I may most probably get a job in Waterloo (having an in with several companies there, with people I know). At that point, we'll just go where I can work, and then try to figure things out from there.

So cross your fingers for us! We want Andrew to get his job back!
