a_narchist asked me to...
May. 15th, 2005 01:48 am1) Total number of books owned?
Well, Andrew figures we have about 760 currently. I've owned more over the years, and the only reason we don't have more is because in order to keep to my budget, years ago I trained myself just to not go into bookstores, because EVERY time I go into one, I buy something. And not just ONE book, either.
2) The last book I bought?
Not counting books I bought for other people, it was probably a cook book. Either "Japanese Vegetarian Cooking" or "Buddhist Peace Recipes"
3) The last book I read?
"Nocturne" by Elaine Bergstrom. Utter crap. But I'm a sucker for stories about supernatural beings in present day (i.e. vampires, elves, etc)
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me?
Ugh. Uhhhhhh.... I can't choose just 5. Are you kidding? So I've chosen 5 from a few genres.
I) "The Color Purple" - Alice Walker
II) "The Feminine Mystique" - Betty Frieden
III) "Culture Jam" - Kalle Lasn
IV) "The Beauty Myth" - Naomi Wolf
V) "I know why the caged bird sings" - Maya Angelou (any maya angelou, really)
I) The chronicles of Narnia (ignoring the christian references)
II) "The Wizard of Oz"
III) "Anne of Green Gables" (and subsequent books in the series)
IV) "The Secret Garden" (can be interchanged with "A Little Princess")
V) The Little house books
I) The New Mutants
II) Amethyst
III) Xmen (old school, thank-you-very-much)
IV) Alpha Flight
V) Elfquest
Now it says I'm supposed to tell 5 people to continue this... but I'm not into propogating memes, you know me. So do it if'n ya wanna...
