All right, downtime. I.e. The weekend.
Sweet.
This was a crazy busy week. Partly, I know, it's the upcoming move and everything involved with that - the planning, the packing, etc etc. Partly, it was definitely getting back into work mode again. I found myself going overboard - more stress than the project required, for example. I curtailed it.
Anyway, our schedule went something like this:
6:30am: wake up
6:40am - 7:15am: some form of exercise (On rainy days, it was in-house and involved weights and biking. On non-rainy days, outside with a skipping rope) (we'd like to do more, but have to work this with working and etc)
7:15am - 7:40am: I get ready for work, Andrew makes smoothies for breakfast
(on rainy days) 7:40am - 8:00am: I relax in front of the computer for a while, and try to catch up on stuff
(on sunny days) 7:40am - 8:15am: I walk to Braid Skytrain station
8:00am (or 8:15am) - 9:10am: I transit to work, writing in my paper journal
9:10am - 5 or 5:30pm: I work, taking one break to walk somewhere, like the natural foods market or the post office
5:30pm - 6:45pm: I transit home
evening: we have dinner, we make lunches for the next day, we do... whatever.
Of course, there were quite a few other things in there: On Tuesday evening we visited friends. On Wednesday I had a work party to attend. On Thursday we walked to IKEA and planned stuff. Yesterday, I went to Home Depot with our landlady to choose tiles and blinds.
So, it's been a little busy. As you have, I'm sure, noticed, I've just barely been able to comment on everything. I try to read every day, at least, but often don't have time (or feel I have the time, or feel like staying in front of a computer in order to) to comment. For all I know, I've missed a bunch of important stuff...
So after work yesterday, I went to Home Depot with my landlady. Who, by the way, feels it necessary to tell everyone everything many many many many times. One of my favourite things! not.
Anyway, she didn't tell me until we got there that the blinds have to be white, and washable, but I found some that are slightly textured, so they look kinda nice. They ordered them, and they should be in early next week.
As far as tiles go, we just got some stick on ones. I don't know yet just how long we're going to stay there (although, of course, we're thinking long term), so I didn't go with uber pricey ones. But man, the landlady almost fell down when I picked the ones I wanted! They pay for about $40, and I have to pay the rest. So I have to pay GASP $66, and she spent a LONG time asking me over and over if I was sure that wasn't too expensive!
Heh.
Part of the problem, you see, is that the fridge is yellow, and the carpet green with brown (ugh). So I had to go with some tiles that have a bit of green in them. I like them, so it will actually make me not hate the carpet so much. If that makes sense.
Although, Andrew has promised me, that if we really like it there, after 6 months or so we will look into redoing the floors with a faux wood laminate or whatever. We'll price it and go from there.
Anyway, I got the keys, checked out the back of the building (and where we can park whilst moving), and took some measurements for key areas we've been talking about, and checked the bathtub again (bathtub size is IMPORTANT, HELLO!), and stuff.
They're not finished cleaning and renovating yet - they SAY by end of day Sunday. When I went there, everything I asked about, they promised over and over that they were going to definitely clean that/fix that too. Even stuff I didn't ask about, like regrouting the bathtub and stuff like that.
So I didn't get home until 9. Or, actually, I got to the Pet Store at 9 to meet Andrew, we went to Safeway to get something for dinner, and then got home about 9:30. Ugh. Long day. Long week.
Today? A morning workout (he'll get up at 8, so sometime around then), he'll go to work and I'll pack a bunch of boxes, I'll figure out food for the weekend, and probably live the glamourous life of a grocery shopper for a while, and cook something, and then we're going to visit the lovely
zaftigvegan and her family in the evening.
And you? Hows life with you?
Sweet.
