The other night we went to the Foundation for dinner with some friends. For dessert, Andrew got vegan sugar pie, and I had some.

Since then, I have been DREAMING over sugar pie. I have been SALIVATING for it. TALKING about it. Looking up recipes... *sigh*

Someday, I am going to make a sugar pie. And I will eat it. (Note: Quebecois Sugar Pie is often made with maple syrup, not sugar)

Thank you much to all who inquired about me yesterday, I am, in fact, feeling better. I've got the aftershocks - icky tummy, tired, that sort of thing, but the migraine itself is gone. Hallelujiah, and all that.

And of course, we were talking to folks about how our white kitty, who used to have a peeing problem, had stopped peeing anywhere but the litter box, and wasn't that great...

And the VERY NIGHT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT IT, she peed on the (brand new) couch.

Ugh.

I may have to throw out 2 of my fancy indian pillows. Hopefully, they'll come out all right (and CLEAN) in the laundry.

*sigh*

It's going to be a process again, watching her and making sure it's not going to start being a habit.

Work is talking about putting me on a project that would have me at a client site in Richmond for 3 months.

Methinks if this happens, I'll be batting my eyelashes coyly at the friends I know who live near me and drive to Richmond for work... I figure, a cute girl who will pay her share of gas money should hopefully be able to get a ride.

In other news... I can't remember anything else.

It's a french canadian delicacy. I don't know much about what you like, but, if you are anything like me, and used to drool at the descriptions of pies at the fairs in fantasy novels (if that makes sense), you'll love it. :D

Hi
I am a sugarholic

I eat tubs of frosting instead of drinking coffee to help me stay awake.

This sounds like something I need to try....

heh hehehehhehe

I think you'd LOVE IT then.

It's heaven. Really.

Speaking of which, have you ever had butter tarts? Because I think you'd love them, too. Little tartlets with butter and brown sugar and eggs in em. Some people add nuts or raisins, but I like mine pure. If you're lucky, the bottom is crispy, the middle drippy, and the top sorta crusty.

my grandma used to make sugar pies - she is french canadian, mais oui. i haven't had it in years, though; and i saw it on foundation's menu last time i was in and was nervous to try it because i knew it couldn't be my grandma's sugar pie and that was what i really want.

Oh shucks. Well, if I make it, will you try it? Then maybe tell me how your grandma's was different, so I can try to make it like hers?

do you mean shoo-fly pie?

Date: 2005-08-25 02:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] freakykitten.livejournal.com
Nope, they're different. Shoo-fly pie is made with molasses, and has a wet bottom, cake middle, crumbly top (according to a site I found from google - I've never had it). Sugar Pie (http://www.recipesource.com/ethnic/americas/canadian/00/rec0037.html) is made with maple syrup, and sometimes topped with whipped cream.
