Where HAVE I been?
Aug. 30th, 2005 10:49 pmHey all. So I know I'm behind on posting. I don't see how I can catch up properly.
Short form:
1) Zombiewalk. LOTS OF FUN. Can't wait for next year. And next year, we'll be REALLY prepared. This year, when it came to the actual day, Andrew and I were both really disappointed with the special effects. The agar agar wouldn't gel the way it did on Thursday, the blood dried a pink-ish colour, and everything just sort of... sucked. I know pride is bad, but it made me glad I'd posted what we COULD do, so that it didn't just seem like we were talking out of our asses about what we were capable of.
But the actual day ROCKED. Tons of people came out (someone told me ~500), and some of those costumes were fanTASTIC.
Most of the people we passed thought it was funny. Some weren't impressed, but hey, whatEVER.
Some of these, I took. Others,
hokahey took.
zaftigvegan took some too, but I can't seem to download them from flickr... they probably do it on purpose. But trust me - she takes a good zombie photo.
Our gang:

I saw my brother on Sunday. I don't know what's going on. Suffice it to say that he acted like everything was fine. Said he read a book that really helped him come to terms with the fact that he actually HAS anxiety, said that he understands some triggers, not all, says that he's doing much better, etc etc. He's still doing some things that may not be in his best interest, but whatever.
So either he's severely playing my mom (which I can absolutely see, he's done it before), or he's acting around me. Which I suppose I can also see.
I was really stressed before meeting up with him (I imagined the worst), and now I'm just confused. I think I've established myself as a support network should he need it, without giving him money (which I really didn't want to do).
I took the day off work today. I took a half day yesterday, too. Yesterday, I had a migraine. Today, I needed the day off. I was still reeling from yesterday's migraine, too. Upset tummy all day. Ugh.
Anyway, I'll work on Sunday or Monday instead (Monday is a holiday, but Andrew works it anyway, so it's not a big deal for me to work it).
Andrew goes in tomorrow to get his 3/4 sleeve started. He is SO EXCITED, and I don't blame him! Seriously. I went in with him today to check out the sketches the tattoo artist did, and they are INCREDIBLE. Exactly what Andrew wanted. He's so stoked. It's going to look AWESOME.
I also took a look at this guy's portfolio, and his work is fantastic. Good like my guy in Toronto - maybe even better. I love his work with negative space. Anyway, if this tattoo goes the way I think it will, we have got ourselves a family tattoo artist (yes, that's like a family doctor... only WAY better for your health. :P). I'll get my back piece finished by him, instead of trying to go back to Toronto every time I want work done.

Date: 2005-08-31 09:00 pm (UTC)He's getting a 3/4 sleeve on his left arm, of a combination of several of the forms of the possible 1000 forms of H.P. Lovecraft's elder god "Nyalarthotep". (I think that's how it's spelled...)

Date: 2005-08-31 09:05 pm (UTC)However, it *is* advertised, and we *are* on public streets, so I hope that those who don't want to see such things do take that into account when planning their day...
Mind you, some of the stuff was so outrageous (like, lime green zombies, or a gay caveman zombie...), that I don't think it would trigger, but you never know.
