So yeah.
I looked at my lj archive the other day, and it really is sad. I do love posting here, it helps me relax, and I also care a lot about many of the people on my list.
So one of the reasons that I can't get into writing in lj right now is how boring it all feels when I write it down.
I'm content, ya dig? Very, very content. The only thing I'm not so content about is work - the commute, being at the client office, the enforced 8 1/2 hour days, etc. But that will pass. Hopefully in just a couple more weeks.
Think about it, folks. Things will be more back to normal then. We'll go about our day, I'll leave home at 8, start work at 8:30, leave work at 4:30 and be home at 5 - a full hour before I get home now. That will, in fact, make a difference in, say... how often I post. And how often I get to quilt, or, say, make wedding presents for my friends who got married in JULY (yup, I suck).
We bought our tickets to Ontario last night. We leave on the 23rd, back on the 31st (early). As far as this visiting Ontario thing goes... I'm excited, definitely. I'm also a little worried how it will all go.
It'll be nice to go to Ontario with Andrew, and have him with me. He'll diffuse situations with my mother, and he'll get to spend more time with my father. We'll get to hang out with friends together, he'll get to meet Monika, and even better - I'll get to enjoy the enjoyable parts even more, because I won't miss him, and I'll get to see him enjoying them.
The money isn't stressing me out TOO much. We'll be able to save money on some presents - we won't mail anything to Ontario, and we will even be able to buy cheap(er) presents, at least for family.
today
Sadly, my throat is sore, although not horrid. I'm drinking Peppermint tea. Tonight's plans of weightlifting have been killed. I think, at most, we'll go for a little walk. Frankly, I don't want to be sick on my birthday.
I so very very much want to walk the seawall on my b-day. Mind you, if I'm actually getting sick, well, walking 8 k probably isn't a good idea. But I WANT TO. Dammit.
Last night's dinner was a squash and pear soup. Very tasty. Too bad we don't have a blender...
We have really bad luck with blenders, it seems. Lately, anyway. The one we got as a wedding present broke just a few months after getting it, cuz, you know, cooked zucchini is REALLY hard to blend. It took the company months and months and months to fix (seriously, we didn't get it back until the next year), and the third time we used it afterwards - it broke again. Just wouldn't go.
So we bought ourselves a new one. Or rather, my brother bought one when he was living with us, and we paid for half of it.
Last month it just went kaput. Won't turn. Motor runs, blender bit won't go.
*sigh*
We've been using our food processor, which is great and everything, but really... smoothies aren't smooth from a food processor. Blended soups have bits in them. You know.
It's low on our priority list though. Andrew really needs new shoes, first. At the rate he's going, he'll probably get around to getting himself shoes WITHOUT the added feature of holes... um... after the rainy season.
Dork. :P
I'll probably suggest we go out looking for shoes for him on Sunday.
