juuuuuuussstt fine
Feb. 10th, 2003 03:26 pmSo we've decided to move back in the end of August.
Back to Canada.
I must admit - we'd wanted to be better off, financially, before moving. We also didn't want to do the 3 day drive again so soon, nor did we want to put the kittens through that ordeal.
But I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd rather he be safe. I'd rather over-react, and not have anything to worry about, than ignore it, and have problems later.
I didn't want to leave this company so soon, either. I've already told my manager, and he respects my decision (he even told me that if we had to leave in the middle of the night, he'd be fine with just a voice mail letting him know). He's a great guy. They're great people. But no matter what, it's been a great experience here. The whole adventure has been terrific.
And it's definitely been an adventure.
We still have months and months before we move. We're going to start with our eyes pointed towards Waterloo, Ontario - there are several companies there that I have an in with. Hopefully one of them will pan out - maybe even more, so I can have a choice. I'm going to apply in a couple of months, and then we'll see what happens. If none of them are interested, we'll broaden our search - to Vancouver, Montreal, maybe even Calgary. And, worst case scenario, we have different families and friends to stay with, who will help us out.
We've made our decision, now we just have to follow it up. We're going to cancel all thoughts of trips (to Hawaii, even to Mexico - although for different reasons - Hawaii because of the cost, Mexico because of the border crossing) farther away than Santa Fe, and we're going to concentrate on making moving back financially feasible.
Happily, August is a 3-pay month. Also happily, Andrew will almost certainly be working again soon.
And if I go back with finances even just a little more in order, and my goal weight attained, and this adventure under my belt, I'll be just fine.

I'm glad this has been an adventure for you, though.

Date: 2003-02-11 07:20 am (UTC)I admit, we're reacting strongly - but this has been something that's building up for awhile, and I'd rather react strongly and have nothing happen, then not react at all and have to deal with difficult repercussions.
