War broke out while I was teaching class last night.

It sort of puts things in perspective.

I write about Andrew's birthday, I write about going shopping, I write about moving, I write about debt, I write about my dreams.

I write about living.
I think about living.

Because people are dying. And I don't want to think about that. But whether or not I think about it, they ARE. The despot that the United States has in power is killing people, and he doesn't care what we say. He doesn't care who protests, or who's against him. And people are DYING.

War has started, against my best judgement, against the best judgement of people I respect, against the judgement of Canada's PM, for gods sake, who I don't usually respect. WAR has started. And I am extremely lucky to be living here, working at my job, planning a day at the spa, and doing those things that I do.

The Boss said it best:

WAR!
What's it good for?
Absolutely nothing.

Class went fine.

I've had that "War...what is it good for..." line going through my head all morning.

Gag

George Bush makes me gag. If he likes war so much, he should hang around Baghdad for a while then make up his mind.

Not to nitpick, but I'm too much of a geek: Edwin Starr (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=4:50:32|PM&sql=A9t5g8qcmbtq4) said it first. ;)

Thanks for the reminder not to let all this cruelty, stupidity and horror throw my own life off track.
