I want this house.
Andrew thinks I'm being cute, but if he were as enthused as I, I'd be talking to a mortgage person on Monday to find out how to start the process.

Date: 2008-06-30 04:16 am (UTC)I dunno. At this rate, we're going to be in Vancouver long term. I mean, we've got a great community here, you know? It took years to build, and we're making new good friends all the time, and I can walk down the street and end up stopping to chat with someone I know, and there are people here raising their children the way I want to raise mine, and people to keep me honest, and a lot of good food and good shows (even if I don't go to them NOW, I'll be going to them again later), and...
So yeah. Vancouver has a lot going for it. It's just that I do want to own. And housing is incredibly expensive to live in Vancouver proper.
We haven't given up on the idea of living in the suburbs, but of course there's the whole suburban living thing that we want to avoid. Surrey near where
If we decide to stay in Van, we might have to give up the dream of owning... I dunno! But dreaming is awfully fun sometimes.

Date: 2008-06-30 01:46 pm (UTC)We watched a show this past weekend that had some homes in Canada and one was a suburban house and the other was on the lake. (Naturally I loved the lake house and Mel loved the Suburban one.)
Honestly, if we had the suburban house on the lake property that would have been cool. AND THE PRICE WAS JUST WOW! Not bad at all.
I say keep on him and go check it out at least. Wouldn't hurt and maybe it would get him in the mood to check it out further. :-)

Date: 2008-06-30 02:29 pm (UTC)You could save some time and hassle by just taking a pile of $100s and firing them through a paper shredder.
Wait a year or 2, you'll save more than you pay annually in rent. I think a 30% drop in house prices in Canada in the next 3 years is quite likely.

There's no way we're buying now.

Date: 2008-06-30 07:52 pm (UTC)It really has a lot of charm...:) I would hate the amount of work it would take to keep up the awesome landscaping (you'd have to, it would be a travesty to let it get overgrown and ugly), but it's very nice.
How'd you find it? Just browsing the 'net or?

Date: 2008-07-01 03:34 am (UTC)There's a site we keep an eye on, mostly for daydreaming purposes... it has places for sale with acreage anywhere in British Columbia, because that's what we want - a place with space.
