I caught up on a bunch of phone calls last night...
Called, in this order, abelynx, Cam, and Aaron. Made some plans, talked a bit, re-connected, continued connections, touched base...
I miss my friends. Fiercely.
I realized that I want to move everywhere. I want to move to Montreal. I want to move to Toronto. I want to move to Waterloo. I want to move to Vancouver. All for different reasons. Each one comes to the front depending on who I'm talking to. That's alright.
Afterwards we watched CSI, cuddled on the couch, and my migraine started coming back so we went to bed early. That's alright.
Which is good, because the pager started going off at 6am and didn't stop. We had an outage for our high-speed customers. So I got up then and called a bunch of people back and came in to work early.
My thinking was that if we're going to get lots of calls about people not being able to get online, I might as well be at work and take them there.
The lines came back up just as I got here. Of course. That's alright.
Oh yeah. Abelynx told me that the folks she knew that I had sent my resume to thought that I was overqualified. She said they were intimidated by me. :D THAT'S alright.
Oh, and I almost forgot. The owner of the co-op food market we shop at sometimes is a customer of ours here at work. Wednesday his wife and son came in and I jokingly asked if I could have a discount. She said "oh yeah, I'll talk to him about that", and I thought, sure sure, whatever.
Yesterday he called me and set it up. And it's no small discount, oh no. It's 18 fucking percent!!! 18 percent!!! That's ALMOST A FIFTH OF WHAT WE BUY. Sheeit. And sales tax here is only 5%, not like Ontario, where we pay 15% on practically everything.
Man. My mouth was open for an hour on that one.
And Andrew did 4 hours of yardwork for my manager, and got $30, and he's doing more on Sunday, and he's working for my coworker again tomorrow, where hopefully she'll pay him for the week, and he's calling my boss today about the house...
And a coworker asked me to QA some stuff he's working on on the side. He wants to pay me 20% of what he makes, plus $10/hr of my time. I'll believe it when I see it, however he's talking about two things in particular, one that's small and may make me $25, but one that's big and might make me as much as $100. Not bad, I say.
I'm so happy/thankful that the universe is giving us these extras right now. THAT'S alright.
