Ah, fuck the diet.

Yesterday we went OFF that diet like nothing doing.

It's our own fault - we didn't bring any food with us when we went out biking, got hungry, and stopped off somewhere horrible for a fast-food lunch.

Then for an after dinner snack we made our own version of poutine. Greasy, cheesy, salty, and good.

Ah well. We're going to sort of eat raw for the rest of the week - at least for the day, since it's all we had in the house and I'm working for 13 hours.

We've been talking about how we want to change our "normal" diet to reflect what we've learned on this Raw one.

1. Smoothies are a nice way to start the day.
2. We need to start shopping in the fruits and vegetables section, so we can get more of those on our budget.
3. Fish 3x a week (or more) is good.
4. Sprouted Grain breads taste good and are good for us.
5. I need to stay as far away from sugar as possible. (so no cereal, soy milk, etc)
6. Still as few packaged things as possible.

So we'll have cooked things again. I'm still up in the air about dairy, which has good protein but doesn't interact with the human body very well. Maybe a minimum of dairy, but still some. Dairy interacts better with me than sugar.

Not that you care. Boring, boring me. Sorry.

Yesterday we biked out to the Wild Oats on Academy to get more cat food. It's really far! Not so far that it was a problem, of course. After all, we biked out to the mountains, hell yeah. We passed the place we got sushi fixings for New Years Eve, and I said "Hey, when we went here, this was FAR!"

I'm so proud of what we can accomplish now. I feel so tough and athletic.

When we got home I had the most delicious nap I've had for a long time. I slept for hours and woke up leisurely. It was so refreshing I even thought of it as I was going to bed last night.

I cut Andrew's hair yesterday. Now he looks like a little industrial boy - shaved sides and back, (naturally) spikey top. He's so cute.

I'm working today because I'm teaching an internet basics class tonight. But I'm taking tomorrow off instead.

I think we're in the mood to see a movie tomorrow. We just can't decide between Finding Nemo and The Italian Job. Anybody have any suggestions?

As for the 6 things you listed on the diet - those are pretty much all my goals too. Except that I didn't know soy milk had a lot of sugar?

I would go see Finding Nemo because of the special effects. :)

Well, not a lot of sugar, but certainly some. And with my hypoglycemia, any sugar tends to drive my system crazy.

Is fish cheap, plentiful, and fresh, living on the Delta as you do? That's one of the reasons I would love to live in Vancouver... good, plentiful fish. Mmmmmm Salmon....

Yes, and actually, I never used to like fish until I hooked up with Dan and tasted fish cooked just minutes after being caught. Once you taste that, you truly understand how tasty fish can be. Now I eat a lot of fish.

I like salmon in restaurants or cooked up in someone else's marinade. For some reason, I can't master cooking up the salmon. It's bizarre.

Yeah, Andrew does the grilling in our family. It seems so stereotypical, but I have no interest in it, so he does all the salmon grilling. :P
