I got home yesterday yellow daisies and purple snap-dragons in the living room.

My boy rocks.

We ate teriyaki perch and fried zucchini and spinach salad for dinner, and settled down to watch White Lies, a Canadian made-for-tv movie about a girl (played by Sarah Polley, who I adore) that gets sucked into a racist movement. (and yes, we were surprised to find it in Hollywood Video, of all places)

That movie made me so angry. I mean... well, I'm extremely against bigotry of any form ANYWAY. But here's this apparently intelligent girl, who goes through all these things, watches all these things happen, and DAMN but I hate it when people in movies are labelled as intelligent and then they don't clue in to things at all or do anything afterwards to show them as intelligent.

Halfway through the movie (which I raged at often while it was playing), I turned to Andrew and said "I don't CARE what happens to her any more because she's just so god-damned stupid! I would have been out of there LONG before!".

It *is* a well done movie, however. Sarah Polley is an excellent actress (everyone else was great as well), and the topic is intense. The images are brutal and breathtaking. It's written well. I mean, it's worth seeing.

I just raged at the screen and raged at her and woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't stop thinking of her.

Tonight we're going grocery shopping and we're going to have sushi for supper. Mmmmmm Sushi.

He is crazy, I guess

I was never a cyber-punk. I was never in Vietnam. I farted in the church. I sawed the legs off the periodic table.

I'm sort of dealing with it like I'm watching him, a wounded animal, in a cage at the zoo. Kind of pityingly, but glad that there are bars keeping him far away.

...that movie was on today, and I watched a bit of it. I flipped in when they were on the bus yelling, "Wake up!" and later when she was lighting a cross after saying that their blood was her blood and her blood was theirs...
