bouncy bouncy!
Aug. 25th, 2003 08:51 amToday is my last day of work at this place, can you believe it? Last week I thought this day would NEVER come. I woke up this morning thinking "This is it!"
It's wierd how I can simultaneously be extremely excited AND melancholy about a thing. There are things (and especially people) that I will miss.
Thinking about people, there's no way we're going to get neighbours as cool as Scott and Shannon when we move. I mean, we're moving to the suburbs of Vancouver, and yes, WE'RE cool, but apparently the place had lots of tricycles and things visible, and yes there are LOTS of people who are very cool, with kids, but...
Yeah.
So I'll miss some things.
But I won't miss this job! Not one fucking iota, no sir! (Maybe the people I work with, but not the actual job part, no way.)
This job is soul destroying.
But today's my last day!
Woohoo!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!
But anyway.
Last night we went out for dinner with a coworker and his wife. I like them, they're kinda crazy in good ways. I said I wanted meat, so they took us Black Angus (which I'd never been to). Every picture in there is of cowboys, it made me think of cigarette commercials.
So anyway.
We had to wait for about 1/2 hour to be seated, so we went to the bar and got 25 oz margaritas for $3.88 !!!!
Sweet ASS.
They were great. In that they were big and full of alcohol. Baby. I got a raspberry one. It didn't taste like raspberry or anything, but I didn't expect it to. Instead, it tasted like a Mr Misty from Dairy Queen. (I used to get those all the time when I was young) Only with alcohol. Let's not forget the alcohol!
I didn't even finish mine. Heh. I'm such a lightweight.
So we talked and talked and talked and talked, the occasional serious discussion mixed with conversations about movies and silly things - which is the perfect type of conversation, as far as I'm concerned. Possibly because my attention span is about 19 seconds long.
Andrew and I got this meal for two with filet mignon and a HUGE appetizer plate and an even HUGER cake afterwards (they said it was a piece of cake, but it was more like it's very own cake). We shared the appetizer plate with them, and took most of the cake home (and actually, most of my steak, too. I was REALLY hungry, and didn't eat ALL that much of the appetizers, since we shared them, but after two bites of steak and half my mashed potatoes, I was full. Full full. Andrew laughs at me, but that's always the case nowadays.)
And all this after Andrew and I discussed going lacto-ovo-fisho vegetarian again. Heh. Filet Mignon is not a vegetable!
I am such a dork.
But anyway.
THEY PAID FOR US. Holee cow! I couldn't believe it. What sweethearts. I mean, we're talking filet mignon and margaritas here. Easily $50 plus tax and tip. I did NOT expect that. I think I babbled when I thanked them.
They said we have to spend the money on something fun, NOT something responsible. I am definitely going to buy a couple of movies off of Scott, and who knows what else?
Then we stopped off at Scott and Shannon's and hung out for awhile and just chatted, and happily, we got to see the trailer again. I love it! If I could get my very own copy of it to show everyone back home, I would, you better believe it. Plus I found out that the song I really really love is the White Stripes. Apparently I've been living under a rock for the past several years, because I have not heard ONE white stripes song. Or at least, I don't think I have. And they're really really good.
And Shannon's going to burn me some!! Hooray!!! Driving music!!!
Do I seem really up and crazy and silly today? I feel it. I'm so excited. It's 9:30. Just 7 1/2 hours to go, and that's including lunch (India Palace, yum).
I have felt like after today, things are going to move really quickly for awhile, and I love that. LOVE IT! Of course, by the time we get to Vancouver and get settled in, I'll be really happy for some down time.
Maybe.
