brightbluegirl(Things are so different here.) I got blasted on the way banking gets done, yesterday. Apparently when you deposit by ATM, there's a 2 day hold before it ACTUALLY gets put into your account.
So when my landlord finally (21 days late) cashed the rent cheque, it was, of course, just when Andrew had deposited a money order and withdrawn some money, so we had enough money in the account, but some of it was held.
Fucking American Banking System.
I'LL tell you where to hold the fucking money. In fact, I'll hold it for you. All the way down Your Fucking Throat!!!
.ahem.
So they charged us $18 fucking dollars.
Fuck. YOU.
Anyway, I called the credit union today to ask them about what we can set up so that doesn't happen again (I was thinking overdraft protection, or a line of credit, or something) and she said "Well, you'll just have to make sure there's the right amount of money in the account before you write a check!"
Oh, go sit on a tack, lady.
And this was after I started by saying that I was un-used to the banking system here, and that this was an example of it.
Anyway, we're going to have to either get used to the 2 day policy, or get a line of credit. At this point, I'm more into the "get used to it" thing. I don't want more debt.
But she didn't have to be such a bitch.
I get to have sushi tonight! *bounce bounce bounce*
Last night I wrote, not very much, but some. It felt really good to get writing fiction again. It's been a really long time. I wrote 700 words or so, just enough to know that I don't want to use that voice and I want to write a little less conventionally that I was doing. Although it wasn't bad - about as good as some stuff I've read.
It was also a nice image:

A quiet, quiet home.
Me, cross-legged on the floor, hunched over our little laptop, typing away.
I didn't even notice time pass. I was just writing.
It was wonderful.
