keep breathing
Sep. 29th, 2003 12:03 pmLast night's dinner was exquisite. The colours screamed AUTUMN, it was a delightful meal of the harvest.
To start, I blended up a garlic-ginger carrot soup with thyme.
For our main course, Andrew and I had a salad with green green green romaine lettuce, bright red tomatos, green peppers, cucumber, and possibly the best feta I've ever tasted, with a side of baked acorn squash with brown sugar sprinkled on top. (Instead of squash, Andrew's brother had breaded chicken pieces. He was quite good about trying things he'd never had before, but really likes his meat)
Dessert was Dragon Fruit.
The entire dinner was a veritable melange of brilliant colours and gorgeous flavours.
Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with the beginnings of a migraine, and a neck that is painful and squishy. I took ibuprofen, and my head feels better, but my neck still hurts and my tummy is the usual migraine upset.
Andrew woke up with a headache too. Too wierd.
His brother is leaving today, and Andrew plans to update his resume in preparation for some walk-in interviews we found out about that are going on this week. It's for some warehouse work, probably nothing interesting, but it requires experience on a fork-lift (which he has), starts at $9.30 an hour and goes to $21, is part-time, doesn't require work with customers, and has BENEFITS.
If it doesn't turn out well, at least he'll have an updated resume, and he'll be able to go out and see what else he can find.
Saturday was a good day - a tiring day, but a good day. I went to a massage therapy appointment in the morning, and I. LOVE. MY. NEW. MASSAGE. THERAPIST. He is the bomb. He's my age, he's nice, he's extremely talented, and he worked on areas that massage therapists have a tendency to ignore on me. He gave me stretches for specific areas I asked for, he checked my stance for problems in my legs, he was just all around fantastic.
I have an appointment for next week even though I can't really financially afford it. Mind you, if Andrew gets a job soon, we're cool. And I keep thinking how important it is to be healthy...
*sigh*
Anyway.
Oh yeah. And he spent an EXTRA HALF HOUR ON ME.
BLISS.
Afterwards we picked up my new glasses. Which have a defect in one lens, and don't fit my head properly. I'll have to go back on Saturday to get them refitted and possibly have them plan to make a new lens, or something. BUT they look great! I look cuter than ever in them. I'm still getting used to them - they're definitely stronger than my old ones, which is a plus, but it leads to eye wierdness when I'm tired. If it doesn't level out by the time I go in about the other stuff, I'm going to mention it then, too.
Then we went for dim sum (yum), then to Granville Island. My favorite part of Granville Island is the farmer's market (this is where we got the dragon fruit), but it's worth wandering around to look at things anyway. We didn't get to check it out very much, though, cuz we then went to his grandparents for dinner.
His grandma is something - she made salad, cut up veggies, potatos, carrots, baked chicken, pork roast, pie, squares, and butter tarts.
I LIKE his grandma.
His granddad is pretty cool too. He's 91, and finally had to stop playing badminton this year. He said everyone asks him what he attributes his extended life span to, and he says "Just keep breathing."
Heh.
Afterwards we went BACK to Granville Island for an improv comedy show they have there. Theatresports. It was fun, but the worst part of it was the audience - a 10pm show on a Saturday is just asking for drunkards. Too bad, but we ignored them. And comedians have no problems telling asshole audience members to shut up. True to our tradition, Andrew won us two free tickets to come back (last time we went, I won us free tickets). Sweet!
Sunday I spent most of the time either sleeping or on the phone. I was exhausted, the whole day. As I went to bed last night, I realized I actually spent less than 12 hours up. Heh.
But I kept breathing.

Have you been to OD lately? They changed things around, big-time. I don't know if I'm likin' it too much. ~ Youmna
