(this was a fantastic weekend)
On Friday night Andrew and I went for sushi and talked (intelligently, no less) about stuff, not that I can for the life of me remember what that was.
That night we created our ten year plan:
Yeah!
Saturday we invited Nicole and baby Ray over for breakfast - Eggs Florentine. Yum. I do so love Eggs Florentine! And then Andrew and I biked to Wild Oats and did some hard core shopping.
I've always enjoyed grocery shopping, but the bike ride there made it even better. It was a beautiful fall day, and the ride itself was invigorating. We arrived flushed and happy.
The bike ride home wasn't as great - our bags were full of heavy things, and it rained. However, we were so happy to finally get home, and so proud to have accomplished the heavy heavy ride.
I made biscuits, and we had fresh biscuits with cheese and jam for lunch, with green pepper to munch on.
I napped, he left for work, and that evening I made cabbage rolls while I read.
I even had a decadent bath, and spoke to my friend Olivia (from Montreal) on the phone.
Sunday we went to "Filling Empty Bowls" at the Indian Cultural Centre. We each paid $10 and chose our hand made pottery bowls, and had all the soup and bread we could eat.
I ate the most delightful Pumpkin Garlic soup. yummmmmmmmmmy.
Then we came home and I napped, and woke up in time to see Andrew off to work.
Then I made pierogi. They're hard to make!!!!!!!!
Make a pasta dough, make the filling, roll out the dough, cut out the circles, put some filling in each circle, close up the pierogi properly so it doesn't open when you cook it, put it in boiling water until it floats to the top, and repeat.
I had to stop when my mother called, and when my friend Justyna (from Toronto) called. But I didn't mind. It all added to the homey feeling.
And those pierogi are GOOD. Oh yum yum yum yum.
This all started, of course, because Andrew and I had a pierogi craving, and couldn't find them anywhere. When I asked at work, I got blank stares and "what are perroggis?". Apparently they don't make nuttin like that down hare. If'n ya know what I meen.
Home made pierogi are miles and MILES higher in quality than the ones we used to get in Toronto.
But anyway.
So I made pierogi and did dishes and dishes and dishes, and started reading another mystery novel, and in general, had a very lovely evening.
I am SO nesting.
On Friday night Andrew and I went for sushi and talked (intelligently, no less) about stuff, not that I can for the life of me remember what that was.
That night we created our ten year plan:
- Stay here until August 2005 (pay off credit cards and personal loan, save, Andrew does school by correspondance)
- Travel until Dec 2005
- Settle in Canada - possibly Waterloo
- Until May 2008 (Andrew finishes school while Lisa supports family, saves)
- Until May 2010 (Andrew supports family and saves, Lisa gets therapist diploma)
- Try to make a baby while Lisa and Andrew both work and save (I'm almost 37 at this time - the latest we want to have a child of our own flesh)
- Once we have the baby, Lisa stops working for a year (at least), possibly Andrew stops for 6 months. We stay close to Lisa's family so they can help with the kid.
- We start looking for THE home in B.C. Use savings as down payment. Move.
- Lisa and Andrew both work while bringing up the kid. Possibly both part time.
- When the kid is about 5 or so, we open our own little cafe, a la Blue Dragon and Cafe Oasis.
