I'm a goombah, so what?
Nov. 6th, 2003 01:34 pmI lost another lb, woohoo!
The first 3 lbs were water, but I claim this lb for Spain! Er... I mean, I believe this lb was a lb of fat.
Sweet. This has been a great week for keeping me motivated, and for feeling that I'm being rewarded for my hard work.
Although, other than cooking more than usual, I don't feel like this has been hard work at all. I've been eating a LOT. And since I love to cook... it really is this no sugar thing that's making the difference, I guess. I should probably wait to see how next week goes, and maybe the week afterwards.
My throat feels immensely better today. I'm kind of surprised. Yesterday it kept getting worse and worse, and by the end of the day, even though I didn't work out, when we were walking home after the improv show, my legs felt twice as heavy as usual, and walking was a real chore.
When we got home, Andrew made me hot lemonade (lemon juice and honey with hot water) for my throat, and after drinking it I went to bed. I slept well, and today my throat feels immensely better.
I guess I'm not getting sick again after all, it's just the previously illness giving one last gasp! Or something. I'm going to see how I feel after work - if I'm more tired than normal, or starting to feel worse, I'll give myself an extra day off working out.
Mmmmm tonight's dinner is hummus on whole-grain toast, with baked beets and pan-fried swiss chard (with balsamic vinegar and pine nuts!) on the side... MmmmMMMmmmmMMMMm YUMMY! I'm really looking forward to it.
The improv show was ok. A large part of whether an improv show is good or not is the audience, and there was hardly anyone there. There was us, who throw out good ideas, and there were the 2 flaming young men behind us, who threw out juvenile ideas like "condoms", "Spuzum" and "breasts" (I mean jesus, how old were they, 12?), and the group of 20 people from some office or other, who were INCREDIBLY boring (and offended by words like breasts), and REALLY not interested in throwing out ideas.
I laughed a bunch, but I've enjoyed better shows by these guys. And I really don't think it was their fault.
There was also this thing that happened that made me feel like I'm the only person in the universe (well, ok, besides Andrew, Aaron, and Cam) who understands my sense of humour. Ok, so they asked "what's something that comes between couples", and my mouth (without my agreement) shouted out "CARDBOARD"
After I heard myself say it, I killed myself laughing. It made PERFECT sense to me. You know, it COMES BETWEEN THEM. You know... like "a brick wall", or "3000 kilometres". It was HILARIOUS. They made me repeat myself 3 times, and they STILL didn't get it.
I mean, ok, I know I'm a goombah. And if my mouth had just paused to let my brain catch up, I would have said something more obvious, like the brick wall idea. But it didn't.
I am doomed to have a weird sense of humour, and to be mis-understood by most of those around me. Heh.
