I'm not wearing a poppy
Nov. 11th, 2003 08:25 amAndrew's still in bed. Even though we went to bed late last night, I woke up at 7am and couldn't get back to sleep. It's this damn work schedule.
Not working on Remembrance Day is weird.
I remember talking to Andrew about this day, and he said that Remembrance Day was this almost "pro-war" day in B.C., it had become strongly that way, and he found it disgusting. So strongly that they'd get people in to the schools to talk about enlisting and things like that.
In Ontario, it was always anti-war. Songs like "where have all the flowers gone" and "blowing in the wind" got lots of airplay. It made it almost haunting. No seminars on the benefit of joining the army, that's for sure.
So I'm awake even though I don't need to be, and now I'm hungry. I'm thinking of banana pancakes. Mmmmmmm Banana Pancakes.
Oh yes. And I lost ANOTHER pound. I'm finding it slightly difficult to believe. Andrew stepped on the scale, though, and he still weighs the same, so at least the scale isn't broken...
