pleasant/unpleasant
Dec. 17th, 2003 09:55 pmI had a VERY nice afternoon with Suzanne today. Pleasant inDEED.
Unfortunately, Andrew showed up at sushi to tell me he tried to get our bus tickets to Kelowna, and that greyhound had shut down all busses on the 30th, 31st, 3rd, and 4th, which led to much sadness on his part, and a bunch of working on my part once I got home.
(It turns out that in fact, the busses are running, but the discounts aren't available. We can get there, we just have to pay full price. That's $100 we didn't really have budgetted, but we can make it happen. It's much better than trying to find a flight, or trying to rent a car, or not going at all.)
I got some stocking stuffers for Andrew, and a load of toys for a needy family (my father's request for Christmas). I got duplo and k'nex and the game Trouble, and 8 different colours of Play Doh, and a big container of plastic/rubber sea animals. Way fun, and Way Cool.
Tonight I have spent time figuring out the bus situation, and I've read a little, and we have hardly any groceries in the house, so I ate popcorn and drank soymilk for dinner. I'm making vegan bran muffins now for tomorrow's lunches - I hope they turn out. I started making rice pudding, but then realized we're out of honey. Dammit. It's coming tomorrow with the rest of our groceries, so I just need to wait and make it then, but we still need SOME sort of food until then. So vegan Bran Muffins it is.
Also, Andrew's Aunt called to invite us to Christmas dinner. *sigh* I've been really looking forward to a Christmas alone, just us, doing our thing. I told her I'd speak to Andrew about it - I did say that we've been working opposite hours and that we've been looking forward to spending some time together, but I don't know how beholden he feels to family, nor how much he wants to see them. So I'm going to talk to him. It's just a dinner, and we can spend other time together. I don't want to upset anyone.
I really want to just have a bath and read some more, though. Maybe later.
